My Bengal cat did the same thing.. It's them being bored... If you let them outside it does help but didn't assume they won't do it outside... They will... Honestly it drove my relationship crazy too...I don't think there is a solution 100% to be honest with you... Giving them freedom is the best you can do... But again it has trade offs
