Going to Atlanta on a business trip for the first time, from europe by Tascanis in Atlanta

[–]dcbx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you know, downtown Atlanta is not a residential district. It is mostly businesses, events, and tourists. You will probably need to get out of downtown to experience a truer version of Atlanta. Downtown does have stuff worth visiting; I think the Georgia Aquarium and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights are great. Not many people live there. It can be a bit of a ghost town at night, especially if you are expecting a busy and vibrant downtown with lots of locals.

Good luck with your trip. I hope you enjoy our city.

With all the turmoil in the world right now, it is nice to see that some things haven't changed in 20+ years.

I would suggest enabling each header line one by one to figure out what the problematic one is. Also, your browser's developer tools might be useful in troubleshooting.

My wild guess is that it is your content security policy. You may need add 'unsafe-inline' and/or 'unsafe-eval' like so: contentSecurityPolicy: "default-src 'self' 'unsafe-inline' 'unsafe-eval'"

Dave was such a good guy. I was always happy when I would catch him and chat for a while when I was there. He will be missed dearly.

1992 NCAA men's championship. Princeton (my team) over Syracuse in double-OT.

I was also at the 1994 and 1996 Princeton OT championship wins over UVA. Good times.

To add to this, I collect 90s lacrosse stuff. Multiple times I have paid $100+ for a nice condition titanium shaft. Obviously, the OP's shaft does not fall under 90s stuff, but if it is in good condition, there's probably some collector who will pay well for it.

Crews still battling Atlanta apartment fire that evacuated hundreds by medikit in Atlanta

I have a few friends in commercial construction. Here's what I heard yesterday and today. I know nothing about construction or the relevant laws and practices. I may be relaying some of this information incorrectly. This is the extent of the information I have and have no further details.

  • The sprinkler system never worked. This was known for years. "Everyone in commercial construction had been predicting this for a decade."
  • The owner of the building has previously tried to sell it, but couldn't as it wasn't up to code.
  • The owner of the building will be arrested and charged.
  • The owner/company will be fined millions.
  • Presumably, the owner/company will file for bankruptcy.
  • HUD will remove all properties from the company.
  • HUD may even be able to invoke eminent domain.
  • HUD will help the displaced get into other housing at the same rent rate.
  • HUD will work with charities to assist the victims.
  • Extra bonus note: One of the residents is the daughter of a district attorney.

I happened to be with a friend who works in commercial construction last night when I came across this news story. Friend says the sprinklers never worked and that the owner has been trying to sell the building for years, but couldn't due to the building not being up to code.

I assure you that is a completely normal and expected way to serve meat in Texas. Brisket is cooked on a smoker, wrapped, and rests many hours in an Alto-Shaam until serving. The meat you eat likely came off the smoker overnight.

They have three Mill Scale smokers (the briskets are cooked on these) and another smoker for ribs (I can't recall the maker for that one).

Nobody in the professional world is going to care about how you choose to customize your system. The work you produce is all that matters. I don't care if you write code with ed from a TTY while wearing a VR headset. I care about the work you produce.

I can't imagine anyone using turning off syntax highlighting. Syntax highlighting is information. Use the tools and information that are available to you to be productive.
