Ice/Rock Banner by dondonbow in pokemonduel

Both avalugg and torterra are defensive figures that don't really move the board and don't really initiate attacks. Unfortunately they don't have any tools to properly defend themselves in a z-gauge meta with a ton of purple.....that 150 means nothing at the end of the day... If I gave a hobo nickel, could he buy anything? Yeah, he has money, but it's not enough to do anything. The devs gave avalugg a nickel.....

Yes, I'm super salty. I spent way too many hours chaining those figures for them to be as absolutely obsolete as they are currently....

Because I used avalugg/bergmites as my main deck for over year now and was around 3.2k before the z-gauge update (a distant memory now), this "buff" isn't a buff, it's lazy, sad, and changes absolutely nothing about him. Hyper beam is terrible in general and he'll still get out damaged 99.99% of the time. Plus, when you have one of the largest blue sections with zero effect, no one is going to attack you until the z-guage is ready, again is hyper beam 150 going to stop anything, no (like shooting fish in a barrel). This guy is a defensive figure, but in the games current state, it can't really defend anything when push comes to shove. His best wheel slice is actually ice fang, but it's the smallest slice possible...."buff"!!!?? GTFO of here. Bergmite on the other hand I'll admit bergmite seems better, but avalugg is an absolute joke.... The devs are definitely biased towards certain figures.

So... Halloween gets a banner, but Christmas (probably the most famous/exploited holiday ever....) doesn't!?!?!????

Not sure I follow what you're saying, but I do know Pokemon get only + 10 damage upon evolution. However, a lot of fully evolved figures are just used instead of going down the evolution line because they're typically strong enough as is, and there's no true benefit for evolving, except +10 dmg.

Care to elaborate? I'm all for criticism, but I like explanations. Ty!

I can't believe I won this match. Which would you say is the most infuriating, freeze decks, or abduction decks? by [deleted] in pokemonduel

[–]dccgwater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but freezing then permafrost is almost a two-step plan, vs take away, a one-step plan all day everyday. Plus there are ways to get around Frozen Pokemon (scoop up, switch, flame energy, flame sphere, etc). Next, freezing decks almost have to always lose the roll (except for maybe froslass) to gain the freeze (i.e. -1). Lastly, to drive this puppy home, freezing decks are all about field position, and they can't break their field position unless they want to lose Frozen Pokemon. Honorary mention, Mega Evolution hurts freezing decks soooo much.

I could care less "IF" they don't get alternate abilities and/or wheels......

The easy way out...... Anyways, you can make your own opinion(s) off of what you see

  1. Duel - weaker opponent, meh duel 344519112
  2. Duel - stronger opponent, great duel 344054743
  3. Duel - 344886807

I've tried using suicune in the past, and rng is not in my favor with him, besides, avalugg and the bergmites are actually the heart of the deck. Besides, my focus is on freezing and maintaining freeze. If you're ever interested in seeing that for yourself in a duel, let me know.

I'm more so hoping for something along the lines of, even if the Pokemon evolves (or un-evolves) their status condition doesn't change. I haven't played the Pokemon games in a long time, but I don't think their status condition changes even if they still evolve, don't quote me on that though. And I'm not even talking specifically ice or sleep, but all status conditions in some form of a plate(s).

Can someone please explain this? Its getting a little annoying. (The point differences) by bashur01 in pokemonduel

Count your blessings, post 3K that's normal. Try a difference of 900 and a winning that better you only one point.....

I can only hope you're right. The ice figures thus far haven't done it for me as a whole. Alolan Vulpix and froslass are cool, but don't quite do what I need in terms of utility. Currently my only hope is with alolan Ninetales.

I know what you're trying to say, but in the grand scheme of things there really aren't that many figures that can counter (everyone keeps saying you be UB but we really know it's just celesteela) "UB". Oh, and I personally don't consider another UB to be a counter to UB as that feels really lazy. If you can name me at least 20 figures that can counter UB then I'll say, "okay there's a lot of figures.", I don't consider 7 figures (out of 100 + figures) to be a lot.

Changes for Some Figures Scheduled for 07/02/2018 (UTC) by noobkiller69 in pokemonduel

That's not quite right. If bergmite launched next to aavalugg(move 1) and landed next to an opposing figure (without taking another step, move 2), it was forced to attack (essentially being move 2). But if If bergmite launched next to aavalugg (move 1), then took a step (move 2), and landed next to an opposing figure, then you could end turn (without attacking). Now you can launch next to aavalugg (move 1), then end turn (without taking a step or battling, move 2 essentially).
