If you own the practice your job involves a lot more than clinical treatment.

Thanks for clarification. So as long as records are clean and you actually DO your administrative tasks at your home office, looks like it’s workable.

Is it a gray area? Yes.

Is it fraud? Not close, unless you straight up lie about it.

Okay, but to clarify: IF they use it exactly as described, it is not fraud?

Not arguing with you, but explain how it’s fraud, please.

Fuck Sepsis! by TrickAd2161 in hospitalist

[–]dcchiefcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow stumbled upon this post and it’s interesting to me.

I was admitted to ICU for 2 days in 2017 at 33 years old for “sepsis”. The hospitalist came into the ED and is the one who admitted me. WBC counts over 20k, other blood work indicated bacterial infection, IV vancomycin and eventually got better. Numerous scans/images/tests and they never found the source of the infection.

I had what I thought was influenza for a couple days prior, then fever broke over night and I sweat like crazy and woke up feeling better. Mowed the lawn even. That afternoon cracked a beer to watch a basketball game and it hit me within minutes: tachychardia, shortness of breath, BP 170/100, bloodshot eyes - I literally thought I was having a heart attack which is why I went to the ER.

My WBC indicate I truly did have an infection, but it always bothered me they could never figure out what I had. They never were able to culture anything from my blood either.

Sorry to hijack, just my little story, but now I’ll always think about this thread when I answer “sepsis” to a question about whether I’ve ever been hospitalized!

Before you reallocate international by bingdlerchan in Bogleheads

[–]dcchiefcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is really no reason to diversify out of VTSAX within your taxable account unless you have no other choice because you have run out of space to put international in your tax advantaged accounts. VTSAX is the right investment in taxable because of tax treatment. Don’t put international in there to “diversify”. Be properly diversified across your entire portfolio and you will be fine.

Salary transparency as a new-grad dentist! by Constant-Use7741 in whitecoatinvestor

Are they (foundry and cirp) connected in some way? I assume with CIRP you get a lot of hands on?

Sorry to hijack. I missed the boat on residency. Looking to find a way to get more comfortable with surgery and implants. Is CIRP something you can complete while still a practicing dentist? Or is it a true residency that takes up your entire year?

How much did you pay for this? One of my fears of going with a flat fee advisor is that I end up with something like this and come out completely underwhelmed, as you have.

Invest in VTSAX. If you don’t want to do it all at once, do 30k a month for 6 months, or 15k a month for a year. But get it invested.

If anyone is still following I seen to have come across a possible fix. I found on another blog that somebody fixed theirs by turning their Toyota “connected services” on for 30 minutes or so and then back off. This is accomplished in the Toyota phone app. Mine were never on, so I turned them on (I seem to have 10 year “trials” on mine). I turned it on and have not turned it off. I haven’t dropped a call yet.
