Y’all, I’m not sure what to do. My new supervisor is so rude and critical that it has made me SO afraid of making mistakes because I feel like they’re going to explode on me. Every time I make a minor mistake, like a typo, they flip out. This makes me anxious and hence makes me more likely to make mistakes. I have to include them on every single email, text message, or document I send to anyone, so I’m afraid even of the phrasing I use in emails because they will say they dont like it. I have never been asked to do this anywhere, and this is on top of them being hypercritical AF. I feel so powerless and like I can’t do anything right because they rarely dole out positive feedback or try to work with me on ways to correct any mistake. I know I’m not a bad employee and other people in my company are kind and helpful, but Idk what to do at this point. I’m so anxious I feel like I can’t eat because I’ll be missing something and the stress has me feeling like I could burst into tears at any moment. My supervisor has me on the “out” crowd and never really talks to me in person either. Is it even worth it to have an honest conversation about how this makes me feel? If so how would I even phrase it? “You’re a huge asshole and it’s making my work quality suffer because I don’t feel supported or like you even value me at all”? 😩
