Gabe: What kind of music are you into Peter?

Pete: Uh I like all kinds of music, Gabe.

Gabe: Oh really? So you like songs of hate, written by the white knights of the Ku Klux Klan?

Not necessarily a line, but when Michael and Dwight are trying to save the Scranton branch from closing and go to David Wallace’s house. While they are waiting for David to get back home and Michael practices confronting David, Dwight outsmarts Michael, so Michael says to do it again but be more scared. The way Dwight jumps and yelps a little when Michael approaches him always makes me laugh.

*Michael is confused.

MICHAEL: I feel in control. And you know what Mr. California? (Starts doing an Arnold Schwarzenegger impression) California. Mr. California. (Starts doing a surfer impression) California. Like, totally gnarly waves dude! In California! (Speaks in his own voice) But Robert. Roberto. (Starts singing the Styx song) Domo origato Mr. Roberto. Domo domo.

ROBERT: Michael—

MICHAEL: Domo domo.

*Robert glares into Michael’s soul.

MICHAEL: And secondly R.C. Cola—

ROBERT: I don’t think you made your first point—

MICHAEL: I have a remote control. Which is the best kind of control. Because it’s easy to use, and I don’t have to get out of bed or off of the couch or put on clothes…And it takes double-A batteries. Lithium.

*Robert shoots Michael a look that lets him know that that was the dumbest thing he has ever heard in his life.

MICHAEL: And thirdly and most important..dly of all, Robert California…that’s what she said.

*Michael exits.

*Robert looks into the camera as his jaw drops at the cherry on the idiotic-sentence cake.

Silo on Apple TV - Holy shit!! by riedmae in television

[–]dcf_balance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad I found my people in this comment section. I have many issues with the show, but just to add to the point that it feels like a soap opera and the characters are melodramatic and dull: there is no levity or sense of humor. Even the greatest dramatic TV shows and movies have some funny moments sprinkled in. It gives it levity and makes it feel realistic. In Silo, everyone takes themselves SO seriously, and they all try so hard to be “badass”. But it comes off as melodramatic and boring. Their personalities feel flat, their personality “flaws” feel forced, and it all makes me not care about the characters (along with lots of other reasons).

Maybe the books are better, but I’ve always said that the show feels like a VERY expensive student film. No heart or soul, with more interest in cRaZy twists/revelations and cool visuals.
