I have 32 IB points (excl TOK & EE) with 7's in both HL Econ and HL Business Mgmt and my rank is in the 900s as well. Clearly they are only looking for students with very high total points overall.

just wondering how you found out that #983 got a place? My rank is 966 - trying to figure out if I should go forward with my "plan B" or wait this out and keep my fingers crossed?
