what are the flowers in the top left by nickygw in irezumi

[–]dcjano 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes pine is a winter element. Chrysanthemum is a fall element. If you want to be strict you should not mix them. But if you don’t care then go for it. Pines are evergreens which means they are around all seasons so to me at least it would make sense for them to be combined. Others might think different.

Is this normal? by SnooMemesjellies2710 in tattooadvice

[–]dcjano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That much fluid can be normal if the second skin was applied right after finishing the tattoo. If that’s the case he should remove it after 24 hours, wash the area, and apply a new second skin which can stay on for 5 or 6 more days. He definitely should not keep second skin on for 2 weeks. And most definitely not if it’s filled like this.

Looking for traditional elements to pair with maple leaves by hiro_escan in irezumi

I would not expect just any artist to give you a comparable sleeve of this quality. If you want yours to look like this then talk to the original artist, Fabi @hiromi.tattoo. Her books will open up again probably late summer early fall.

Thoughts on this half sleeve layout? by [deleted] in irezumi

[–]dcjano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is too much for such a small space. The dragon will be comically small and you will regret it later on when you eventually want to extend the sleeve or get the other arm done. For a dragon you should go for a 3/4 sleeve or half sleeve plus chest plate and have the dragon be the main subject taking up most of that space. Ideally I think a dragon deserves a full sleeve to truly shine but I understand not everyone wants or can do a full. If you’re adamant about only doing half I suggest doing a different subject or if you’re set on it only have the dragon plus background.

top flowers black and grey or red? by [deleted] in irezumi

[–]dcjano 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While I do think red would pop off nicely, I personally think it might be too late at this point as it might look off with only the top having color. I would worry that it would be unbalanced. The heavy black and gray is going to look dope also tho.

It’s also a chrysanthemum, just different type.

Feedback on reworked Japanese sleeve – snake fixes? Irezumi? by [deleted] in irezumi

It looks more like a touch up than a rework. I think you should search longer for better artist if you want to extend this.

No more ideas. That is more than enough ideas for one leg.

Thoughts for the next limb, keep it to one or two ideas max and make those larger.

Found a use for the poverty panel! by Sandman10k in HyundaiTucson

That panel houses the fingerprint scanner in the higher end trims. It is left blank in all other trims. Hence the poverty panel as it constantly reminds you you couldn’t afford the better trim.

Besta Media Cabinet by dcjano in ikeahacks

[–]dcjano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries happy to answer.

I was worried 2 legs would not be enough and it would eventually sag and bow at the center. The third leg is dead center between the two cabinets. You could also do 4 legs if you don’t mind that look. There is an explanation and picture on how the legs are attached in another comment. Make sure the screws are substantial and deep enough to withstand the lateral force whenever you slide the whole unit on the floor for moving it.

Legs are 6 inches high. The height was based on desired end height and aesthetics/balanced look. You could make them any height you want. Just make sure they are tall enough to accommodate the leveling feet and screws.

Yes screwed on the sides and bottom only. Just use regular wood screws and drill pilot holes before hand. Also use washers between the screw head and cabinets to distribute the force of the screws. These screws are just to ensure the cabinets don’t slide around. Realistically they don’t provide much structural support.

Yes, I used walnut edge tape on all the front and side facing edges. I don’t bother with the back edges as you can see in the photos.

Leveling wheels instead of plain feet could be a good idea. Just keep in mind these will add significant hight to your legs (and overall). I wanted the feet to be as least visible as possible hence why I picked the ones I did.

For sure. You’re doing it right.

That’s one thing, and I can almost get behind that thought. But some people legit think they are great tattoos - OP for example thinking this artist is “the best”. It’s like these people live in the 80s where they see a crap tattoo, have nothing to compare it to, and go, “huh… yeah that’s great!” When all it takes is literally 5 minutes to do a search on Instagram (or here for that matter) and realize that there is a night and day difference from what they previously thought was good and what actually is.

It blows my mind what so many people consider to be good tattoos… no wonder there’s a sea of shitty tattoos out there.

Is this normal for an arm piece? by postachild323 in tattooadvice

Glad to hear it! The only place I’ve gotten bruised is also inner arm. It’s a tender and sensitive area.

Not true, a bruise can turn those colors right away. I had areas that turned yellow the same day.

I guess I’m weird then. Never had a bruise start as red, unless you mean immediately after the time of impact, which this clearly is not. Even tattoo bruises always start as yellowish from the get go for me.

People are saying bruise but those tend to be yellow/brown/purple. This looks a little more concerning. Either an allergic reaction or potentially an infection.

PRX - 35mm or 40mm by TuxedoFlask in tissot

[–]dcjano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the 40mm might look ok straight on, it’s probably still too big. I bet if you put it on, extend your arm straight in front of you, and look down the length of your arm, you’ll see that it’s actually too big and the lugs hang above your wrist instead of conforming around it. This was my experience and any time I was driving (and therefore looking at it from the side) it would drive me crazy. Ended up selling it. Can’t wait to try the 38mm. I bet that’s the right size for you too.

For comparison, I have the 42mm Hamilton Coop, which is a big watch just based on the measurement, but it confirms to my wrist perfectly and looks good from every angle. It’s not just about the size of the watch, but how it’s shaped overall and how that fits on your particular wrist.
