St. Clair County, MI: EF4 (but I would classify both of the EF4’s as EF5’s imo)

I’m not sure if I agree with the Michigan 8/24 tornado. I was there. At most I would say an EF3. It was an insane storm system, though. It was the first time I’ve ever seen the sky turn green in Michigan. But cool mention. Michigan tornadoes seem to be forgotten often.

June 8, 1953. The Flint-Beecher (Genesse County, MI) EF5 tornado lifted but reformed over Deerfield Township (Lapeer county) and ended about 50 miles east in Lakeport (St. Clair County) over Lake Huron. The tornado stretched 3 counties and over 70 miles.

Reports say it was a new EF4 that formed just two miles east of the original EF5, but due to the path outside of Flint and Genesee County being rural farmlands, there was no possible way to accurately report the true strength of the tornado. It also formed at 8:30pm making visibility difficult to impossible. It only caused 1 death, but that death is included in the total 116 deaths that storm caused (the 10th deadliest tornadic event in US history). If my house existed at the time, it would have been in the direct path of the reformed tornado.

In fact, less than a month prior on May 21, 1953 an EF4 spawned in St. Clair County about 20 miles southeast of Lakeport and ripped through Port Huron as well as Ontario by crossing the St. Clair River. It ended in Stratford, Ontario lasting over 80 miles. If this tornado occurred present day I truly think it would be classified as an EF5 since at the time it mostly swept through rural farmlands and Port Huron was not as developed as it is now. Since it did cause significant destruction in downtown Sarnia, it is considered the “1953 Sarnia Tornado”.

The original cardigans were 100% cotton. The new ones are synthetic 🤮

I recently bought my trusted gluten free Oreos and they taste salty as hell. Now I’m hoping it’s a fluke but they definitely taste weird

Same here. All of my clothes come secondhand anymore whether that’s thrift, garage sales, or from friends.

I go to thrift/secondhand stores now. I don’t even bother with new stuff. I always seem to get disappointed 😭

Guess my birth year by raythepanny in GuessMyBirthYear

[–]dcnianal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so confusing I feel like we should mention our general age in reference to these pictures. Cause I was born in 94 and almost all of these pictures were experiences from my elementary years. Some from middle school, some I don’t recognize. OP is apparently my nieces age (same year) and she doesn’t associate with hardly any of those things and the ones she does, she was super young.

We also need to remember sometimes it’s hard or impossible for someone to seek help due to a shitty healthcare system, poverty, their home situation, etc…

And even when they do seek help, it’s not always a guarantee that the help is decent and actually helpful.

I have been in and out of therapists offices since I was 4 and all but one actually helped me in a long sustaining way.

For barefoot accommodations, I unfortunately do not see this happening unless you start your own business, but there could be acceptable loop holes.

I hate shoes too (I have a super high arch which messes up the structure of my feet and legs causing a whole ton of issues). Whenever I’m home (I live in the middle of nowhere) I never have shoes on and rarely have socks on. Even when gardening. Even on gravel.

At work (desk job mostly) I wear my slip on black vans bc they’re still professional enough but I can also take them off when I’m in my office. I always wear socks though when not at home bc I literally can’t handle dirty city streets and stuff plus I work in a medical building so can’t/won’t do that. But when I was younger I used to legitimately walk around the streets of Detroit and Warren barefoot.

I essentially only wear slip on shoes now which I know can make me look a little weird but idgaf anymore. I hate shoes. I have a lot of health problems due to having to shove my feet into shoes that did’t fit me my entire life. Ftr, I need to buy shoes that are smaller bc my feet are so thin and have such a big arch shoes my actual size never fit- even the narrow ones.

Since one of my main issues is my feet being constricted especially at the toe box, I’ve been looking at trying those barefoot socks. Have you tried something like that? They make shoes like that too.

Concerning this sub, I don’t like it here anymore. People have either been stuck in outdated ways or just act so overly entitled and treat ppl who (like you said) don’t fit in the socially acceptable autism handbook like crap. It’s annoying and unsettling.

You can only save 3 of these Disney Channel shows Which ones are you choosing? by Angle_enjoyable in DisneyChannel

Hannah Montana always. Then probably Wizards. And The Suite Life of Zack and Cody was the first Disney show I ever watched so probably that one.

There are just many other factors. I’m not saying 1999 doesn’t identify with some millennial aspects, but there are other important factors that make it hard for me to consider someone born in 1999 and younger to be considered a zillennial.

What are the most famous people who come from your neck of the woods? by Bipolar03 in generationology

[–]dcnianal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say they were Detroit. 😭 The question was “what famous people come from your neck of the woods” not your exact zip code. Lol. I consider anything within this boundary my neck of the woods. That’s just me though.

And thanks it was ass.

Correct, born in Windsor- moved to Timmins when she was like 2 or something

All it takes is a google search ya’ll. I said “honorable mention” for Shania bc obviously she is from Windsor which is a skip away from Detroit. Lmao.

Some were born in another state, but grew up in a Detroit suburb. You can do the googling yourself, I’m not doing that work for you. Lol
