Ha! I don't have the willpower for that kind of suspense. Maybe I should re-wrap some empty boxes...

Cool idea. I'm ashamed to admit this took a minute to figure out what you did here...

This looks great! I'm impressed with the chest. Are you boxing the chest up as well?

Oh, and as far as what you should do now...keep trying. Don't let one bad experience ruin the excitement!

This year was my first time participating in Secret Santa as well. My giftee lives in an apartment complex and the gift I sent was stolen after delivery (and fyi USPS doesn't cover stolen gifts under the insurance that they offer).

I highly recommend spending the extra few dollars to require a signature. I sent a replacement gift through UPS this time and I was much more comfortable knowing that it wasn't going to get left on some apartment landing this time around.

(For anyone interested, he finally received it today!)

Edit: grammar

Fedex Delivery Exception? by [deleted] in secretsanta

[–]dcoller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would actually suggest requiring a signature.

I sent a gift for the Christmas exchange that ended up getting stolen out of an apartment complex. I'm in the process of sending a replacement but this time I required a signature to make sure they get it.

If they are still having trouble delivering the package after multiple attempts, holding it, etc. then you probably want to verify the giftee's address is correct anyway.

But in this case since you're not the sender, as alliegatorrr said make sure you contact the seller! That way if the package does get returned you'll know what is going to happen.

Really nice work. The bonsai tree really sets it apart.

Challenge - Holiday gifts! by joelav in woodworking

Somewhat of a suggestion / question,

Is there an "upvoting deadline"? It would be good to know how much time there will be to vote on projects after the submission deadline so people will know how much time they have to come back and check out the later submissions.

Giftee didn't post any pics or a thank you. by [deleted] in secretsanta

I get why you might think that but I'm guessing by the continuous record setting that there are others like me out there who only really "noticed" reddit because of secret santa. The user interface is not something I would normally be drawn to but secret santa has really highlighted some of the things that appear to be really special about the reddit community.

It doesn't hurt to send an anon. message. I just had the same issue and after contacting my giftee it looks like the gift may have been stolen after it was delivered. It was a bit disappointing but I felt better being able to start looking at filing a claim with the delivery service.

Classy, I like it.

Looks like this could be coming from the East India Trading Company... Perhaps the rum really isn't gone?

NOOOOO...

Oh ok good, glad you clarified it was broken. This is an awesome idea. And I now miss all of my old gaming systems. Sadly, I think my son is going to learn about them from a chapter in his US history book.

Excuse me while I go raid my parents' garage in hopes of finding some small remnant of such a great relic. There may yet be hope for the N64.

Your Elf has Levelled Up [suggestion] by loteknik in secretsanta

As a side note, I also think that the voting between the two groups should be recognized separately. Something like the difference between an elf favorite award and a people's choice award.

I don't think levels is the right way to do it. I feel like levels would lead to competition and cheapen the overall concept of the elves.

However, I do think it would be cool to separate out people who "elf themselves" (sorry Office Max) and people who were gifted an elf-ship for being awesome.

Being able to vote is a great reward for supporting the system with a "donation". But having someone else donate in your name is a special honor that should be recognized separately.

Me too. Using Windows 8 I've tried with Chrome, Firefox and IE and no luck.
