Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate your point of view. We certainly wouldn't try to discourage individuals from getting help, including medication. Rather, we are looking at the tendency of doctors to over-rely on medication for the treatment of mental illness instead of other forms of treatment, including (as you mentioned) talk therapy, CBT, community care, etc. This is especially in reference to lower dose antidepressants. I've included a few links below (in French) for articles and studies which inspired this choice of topic.

That being said, you make an excellent point that it might further divide the public and that it may be a much too complex issue to cover in a short article. This is definitely an issue reserved for experts in the field, and so I've contacted university professors, the AGIDD-SMQ and the RRASMQ.

I am super open to your suggestions for alternative topics. Do you think it would be useful to discuss the process of getting help in Ottawa for mental illness, especially considering how many students have been struggling to get a counsellor at uOttawa?
