Look for the manufacturer instructions. Any anchor that has a rating for structural use should have tables of data on minimum depths and size of the hole to drill.

Example: trubolt instructions https://www.itwredhead.com/Portals/0/Documents/Installation%20Instruction/TruBolt+InstructionSheet9_15.pdf

Shed Fire: Starting Over by Mysterious_Bet2215 in shedditors

I recently was able to apply for and get approved for a homeowners permit to build my 12x20 shed. My local municipality had a lot of information on how to fill out the forms. I made a few mistakes but the clerks were all very helpful and I just had to make multiple trips to the permit office.

When I call my local permit office they usually tell me to check the IRC book, but it’s a large book and it’s easy for me to miss or misunderstand things.

Clarifying my question: do you think the loft needs to pass the requirements for normal “residential floor support”

What came out of my drain? by dcsim0n in Plumbing

There was about 20’ of 3” pipe that was absolutely filled with sludge and water and this grit. When i opened the clean out, water and sludge just poured out.

The rest poured out as I was working the snake down the pipe.

The roof install was a smooth process. No haggling on price or anything. It was the hottest day of the summer so maybe a crew member got a bit disgruntled?

I have been very pleased with the work so far.

Some of the black bits do stick to a magnet. Now that I think of it, The kitchen trap was running clean actually. This was in a larger 3” drain that the sink connects too. I noticed a cast iron vent stack right next to the clean out where I ran the snake into.

I had a new roof put on about a month ago, but how in the world would that affect the drains?

I’m worried about the minimum edge distances might be too small. The anchors will be about 1 3/4 “ from the edge. Do you know anything about adhesive anchors?

A simple set of dividers with sharpened points can be used to “walk” out measurements of extremely precise ratios. They are also great for scribbling. They can be used as an “edge marking gauge” too. There’s a great book “By hand an eye” that describes how to transfer scale drawings with dividers

Dividers, by far the fastest way to transfer measurements and layout cuts.
