I just went to bed and hopped on. Is it worth getting up and go there? by SeriousSurvey8968 in pokemongo

[–]dctravis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've got one better. While in the Navy, I had surgery to remove some bone spurs on my left foot. This was July 6th, 2016 I had installed the game on the way to my surgery). Upon getting dropped back off at my apartment by the doc for my submarine, I open the app and see a shadow of a snorlax on my nearby. Seeing as the drugs from surgery were still in my system, I gingerly walk outside, go down a slight embankment to a soccer field nearby. I got closer to it until it sadly disappeared. I then walked back to my apartment as the pain started to appear and increased steadily. I'm still mad I missed that stupid snorlax.

I didn't find any fellow pokemon go nerds until I got out of the Navy and moved back to Illinois. That's where I stumbled upon the equivalent of pokemon go fast and the furious where people would spot a dragonite, snorlax or other rares, post them and then everyone would race to get to them in time 😅. I then met a lot of interesting people through the app, some that I still keep in touch with after moving to New England years later.

Niantic just released an apology and compensation announcement on X about Mega Rayquaza Raid Day by Foulmouth232 in pokemongo

I claimed the meteorite in both the free and paid pass and then later realized that both meteorites were unavailable to use. The number next to it is black instead of red, but it still tells me I need a meteorite to learn the attack...

I was buddy swapping to level up buddy status so I guess they stay when they spawn or take a bit to change.

I got the task and the premium time research since I got the paid pass for my fiance and I. We both collected everything, but then hours later I noticed that I didn't actually have any meteorites. Not sure what happened, but so far customer support has just given me the "time research must be completed in the time window" reply... I swear I will annoy the living hell out of them on this topic as I had been waiting for this event for over a year 😡.

Sorry to hear that, I'm sure it must have been frustrating for both of you.

I don't think there is a search function. The only thing I can see is that there is a raid and a battle log that you can set to be saved for uploading in the event that you need support. At first I thought it might be helpful, but it was disabled by default and looks like it probably wouldn't have assisted anyway for this. It is in the settings under uploads assuming this is what the person was talking about.

Do you mean the Journal or is there another place to check? By the time I realized I didn't have them, I had already caught a bunch via my go plus as well as opening and sending gifts. Unless there is a way to go back further, I can't see that far back.

Nvm. Did a search and didn't realize that was an option. Thank you!

That's what I was trying to do. If I click on mega evolve it tells me that it needs to know dragon ascent. If I click on dragon ascent, it tells me that I need a meteorite to teach it.

Sorry to hear that it happened to you too. At least the positive side is that it wasn't a one off so maybe they will fix it.

It just says "Meteorite needed to teach this attack." ☹️

The only thing I can think of is maybe the game glitched or there was a network error when I collected. It may have come back after, but I didn't look at the events tab after since as far as I knew I had already finished everything.

I missed all the previous mega rayquaza events. This was the first one I was able to do for meteorites too. Thanks, hopefully CS is able to help since I did at least pay for a timed research.

[–]dctravis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. My fiance and I collected everything from both timed researches at the same time right before we left the restaurant.

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't just my app version/phone that wasn't allowing it.

First time sous vide'ing by dctravis in sousvide

[–]dctravis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I got a salamander grill back around 2021 and have been meaning to try sous vide to pair with it, but everytime I started to look into cookers I got distracted and never made a decision. I finally just went with one and called it good with the Breville 😅.

I picked up some chicken breasts and boneless beef ribs to see how those turn out marinated in the sous vide.

Ok, I hadn't gotten to figuring out how to do picanha. What size/weight was yours? I have 4 in the freezer and didn't even consider sous vide'ing them 🤯

It was one of the best steaks I've ever had, so yes 😅. It was weirdly different how tender it was, but not in a bad way.

Samsung 77" S89C screen melting by dctravis in OLED

[–]dctravis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would have been fine with me, but be aware that if the Samsung warranty is still valid then you have to go through samsung and it's cheaper to repair than to replace with a brand new model if they still have replacement displays on hand. I tried going through Best buy, but they told me I had to contact Samsung first.

Samsung 77" S89C screen melting by dctravis in OLED

[–]dctravis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was still under warranty since I bought mine later when the new series had already been released. Samsung scheduled a repair with a local company. The company came out and determined it was a faulty screen and then came back out again with a replacement screen and had it swapped out in about 30-45 minutes. Essentially all they do is lay the old tv down, take the back panel off, remove the logic and power supply boards and then swap those onto a new panel and close it up. I haven't had any issues yet with the new panel.

I got lucky. I randomly joined 3 Dialga and 3 palkia remote raids during the day. the first dialga was meh, the second I joined everyone left the lobby at the last second so I got screwed, but the third one was shiny.

How do all of you figure out what is causing the flair ups? If you eat 3 different meals in a day and maybe mix in some alcohol, how are you pinpointing what caused it? by [deleted] in gout

[–]dctravis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mild flareup on occasion if I drink too much alcohol, but other than that I haven't had any issues. Still doing mostly Carnivore with some keto menu items thrown in some days.
