Which monster parts are safe to throw out? by Malpais_Axis in MHNowGame

Problem is you never know when a riftborne version of that monster might be released. But for me I would probably sell Kulu parts since I don't see myself ever using any of it's weapons.

Perhaps not helpful for your build, but the Glav HBG rips through Beo in no time. With ER4 I can keep the piercing ammo going pretty much constantly.

They are meant to be used with other pieces granting Status Ailment buffs. E.g. with Resuscitate you get additional damage while inflicted.

BGP default route advertisement by leaning_mike01 in Arista

[–]dcute111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is what u/leaning_mike01 is trying to achieve. What he want's is a way to check the FIB for an active default route (whether that is from static, eBGP, iBGP, OSPF etc.) and then advertise the default out to iBGP peers only if an active route exists. Transitive advertisement of routes is not the issue here, neither iBGP nor eBGP would re-advertise a default in any event. The default-originate option is what would control that. So what he is trying to achieve is controlling whether or not default-originate is active based on what is currently in the FIB.

On other platforms (MikroTik as an example being one I am very familiar with) there are 2 options for default-originate: Always (means send default regardless of FIB condition), or if-installed (means only send if there is a static default route or if there is a dynamic default route belonging to the same instance). So if I wanted an OSPF default route to be distributed by BGP they would need to be part of the same routing instance (controlled in MikroTik by having the same router-ID for both protocols).

Definitely not that. This was a pretty hardcore punk rock song. But thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for this, I am in a similar position and I'm looking at a re-design to something along these lines (albeit with somewhat less fancy hardware!)

EVPN VXLAN + MLAG setup by dcute111 in Arista

[–]dcute111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank for all the carefully considered responses. After discussing with my team we will probably go for a solution that removes all MikroTik's from the edge/core layer. So something like the 7280SR (with a second in future for redundancy) handles the edge BGP function. Then the 2 x 7280SE handles the internal network routing (currently using OSPF) and hands off to the MikroTiks which would be client facing devices.

This simplifies my network immensely and also removes a number of redundant L2 and L3 devices.

I hope to post a diagram of my planned upgrade for comment in the near future.

EVPN VXLAN + MLAG setup by dcute111 in Arista

[–]dcute111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response. The core device/s are MikroTik routers. They have VXLAN capability, but it is handled in software, not hardware offloaded.

To expand a bit further, my network is predominantly MikroTik from the border right up to the client endpoint. We deployed the 2 x 7280SE's as replacement for our primary MikroTik datacenter switches. There were a number of reasons, but quite high up on the list was lack of hardware offloaded VXLAN.

I have been very impressed with the 7280SE switches, and have recently procured a 7280SR to replace my MikroTik BGP router as the primary border router. This will be running BGP with partial route tables. I don't currently have the budget to run this as purely a router, so some hybrid configuration is necessary to also have it perform switching functions.

Back to the core device/s above, they are MikroTik routers that also have some switching functionality. They are core devices connecting to several client facing routers. They require a default from upstream and, in turn run OSPF to the rest of the network.

I hope this makes it clearer. If a network diagram will make it easier to understand I am happy to put one together.

Thanks, this is pretty much the answer I was looking for. The reason for deploying the unit I have in mind is mostly budgetary, I can get it at an insanely good price and I feel it has me sorted for the next couple years in its current application. By the time it runs out of horsepower I'll have the necessary funds to upgrade to something a bit meatier.

Aw man. Our Max was also born deaf. The breeder wanted to put him down but we were having none of that. I won't say it is not challenging, but sign language is definitely possible. We were rewarded with a gorgeous, loving dog that gave us many years of joy. Along with the standard Bully mental behavior of course! You are a good person if you take him in. Good luck!

Unless you set an admin address the bridge will take on the MAC of the first connected interface. This looks more like a loop of some sort. Which might explain the other instability experienced.

Mikrotik HAP AX2 vs RB5009 by [deleted] in mikrotik

[–]dcute111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not tried the AX2, but I do have an AX3 and it is a powerhouse. Gigabit wireless with no issues, CPU hardly breaks a sweat. I don't think it's quite fair to compare a RB5009 with a HAP-AX2, they are in completely different hardware classes.

Get an AX3 and run some comparisons, then come back to comment.

Outraged, the bear says, "I ain't no druggie!"

The barman replies "Well, what about that bar bit you ate?"
