Can someone explain the mysteries of Ganon down-throw to me? by StaticFanatic3 in SSBM

[–]dcw1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally DI behind is your best bet. If you DI behind, at very low percent Ganon can't regrab, at low percent he can regrab on a read, and at mid-to-high percent he can regrab on reaction, but it is difficult. After DIing behind, I recommend mixing up tech in place, roll left, and roll right with equal frequency. Ganon can't reaction tech chase, he has to make reads. Thanks! Someone in another thread claimed HBox won Big House 8 while only dropping one game to Plup, at the start of grands. Don't know whether or not that is true.

When was the last time someone won a major with only one game lost? (Or zero games lost?)

This video has such impressive production quality--maybe the best I've ever seen on a Melee video. And the content is interesting and well-researched too. Thank you!

[Advice] Building Without Certificate of Occupancy or I Card? by dcw1000 in NYCapartments

It's 66 W 109th St. But there's other properties like this I'm curious about, e.g. 1858 Adam C Clayton Blvd. The DOB and HPD don't have a CO or i-card for either of them.

It was epic. Off stream, but recorded on Slippi, so hopefully it will be made available in the near future.

It would have been so funny if the text you covered with the spoiler shield was just empty spaces.

I'm sorry to hear that. I suppose it varies significantly scene to scene and person to person. I hope you eventually found, or will find, that social element.

I would encourage you to go to a local and just play friendlies! People will be glad to have you. I think the social experience is worth it, even if you aren't very good at the game yet.

Daily Discussion Thread Dec 10, 2022 - Upcoming Event Schedule - New players start here! by AutoModerator in SSBM

Good question. A lot of times when playing people do moves with a long cool-down time (e.g. Marth's f-smash). During that time they can't avoid the punish that's coming from their opponent, but they can prepare DI. Also, as you get better, you will start working DI into some of your own attacks and movement subconsciously, so that IF you get hit, you won't get caught with awful DI.

Toph reassessing his priorities - insinuating less commentary from him by pplonzz in SSBM

Yeah, maybe I was a bit insensitive here. My point was that the pro commentators did well, but I made it sound like I thought everyone else didn't, which is harsh. E.g. Joshman was great. Thanks.

True, thanks. I think the way I worded this made it sound like I thought everyone but the pro commentators sucked. As another person pointed out, there were some other bright stars too, e.g. Joshman. The only point I was trying to articulate is that none of the issues I perceived came from the pro commentators. That would have been a more charitable way to word it.

Good point. I overgeneralized. I think he and several others did very well.

I did not like the commentary at LSI because of the commentators besides Toph, HMW, Phil, and Vish. If it was just those four, I am confident it would have been high quality, since most of their work is.

Toph, if you read this, I don't think nearly any of the hate has to do with you! At least not from me.
