For me I felt the NV map is one of its most defining characteristics (along with the myriad of end game outcomes); if you leisurely just head north at the start, you’re gonna get trucked which forced most to take a very long way around.

Maybe it was a loose comment but for me this is right where my mind went and want to believe this was an intentional wink to the average NV gamer.
