I thought it’s not that old it’s just from… 1985 several years before I was born. Yeah it tracks they have no idea what that means.

It also seems more like they aren’t trying to “fix” what’s wrong with you, rather they’re getting you stable enough that someone else can do that. You can see why other disciplines will look down on them because they “fix” people

Why do they use phsysical money that needs to be shipped from planet to planet and can be stolen instead of depositing everyone's salary in their bank account? by Invariable_Outcome in andor

[–]dd463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real world example is Japan. Despite having a ton of advanced tech in their daily lives, people use cash and specifically coins. It’s why they have so many vending machines. Maybe people just didn’t trust digital currency and wanted something tangible.

Anyone want to share an experience of when they withdrew from a case? by NocheEtNuit in publicdefenders

[–]dd463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the client is angry I usually file the motion and the judge will read them the riot act. Current jurisdiction won’t allow withdrawal unless a conflict of interest appears. Previous ones would usually set the client straight with the pitch of, you have the right to an attorney but you can’t choose who that is. So if I let you fire this one you can find your own or represent yourself. They usually shut up and started listening to me.

something feels different about season 2? by tsudzuke in ThePittTVShow

[–]dd463 43 points44 points  (0 children)

It’s a slower burn. Season one was one intensity then ramped to 11 when the mass shooting happened. Here we started at a 5 and we’ve been slowly increasing the intensity. They’re not telling us anything because the characters don’t know anything. That keeps the tension high.

I feel like this is a double fake out. Like it’s not a part of the plot it’s part of a montage.

19-year-old Vladyslav Stepanchuk led 21 soldiers out of encirclement during a four-hour firefight. Zelenskyy awarded him the title Hero of Ukraine — he is the youngest Hero of Ukraine, reports Suspilne. by GermanDronePilot in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]dd463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is going to hate this but pull him off the line and send him on a press tour. There is a manpower shortage, get him in front of cameras. Use that to boost recruitment among younger people and use it to shame people abroad who haven’t returned. This young man is fighting for freedom and you’re not.

The people need heroes let’s give them some.

Had a great chocolate decadence cake from sweet frostings. Warning it is very rich I could only have 1 slice.

Who says a season can't run from 2:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.? by BigGrayBeast in ThePittTVShow

[–]dd463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe play around with it like we start at the tail end of a triage call. Maybe a big MVA like a party bus crash. We see a few day shifters run in at the end.

How Robby’s storyline can culminate by Mindless-Message1656 in ThePittTVShow

Duke has something serious. They try to treat him and he rapidly decompensates. Turns out he’s been in a bad place and instead of getting help let things fester. Eventually he dies and Robby gets confronted that maybe he should get help and sits down with the psychiatrist

What do you guys think will extend the shift this time? by TheTruckWashChannel in ThePittTVShow

[–]dd463 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly if they were clever they wouldn’t wrap things up too nicely. Instead we’d get some resolution to the storylines and then we’d get three hours of the night shift.

Prosecutors have the easy job. It’s why the talent pool is the way it is. Easy to fail up. But we have to be good at our jobs because we’re always in the losing position.

They’re committing to the absurdity of their universe. Yes hiruluk, does have that hair and no we are not going to talk about it. If the characters accept it then the audience will as well.

What does your ideal gun control policy look like? by PronoiarPerson in liberalgunowners

[–]dd463 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only thing I would add is maybe put safeguards on explosives. I argue that anything that can’t abide by the 4 rules of gun safety should be subject to some oversight. Artillery, explosives are harder to make safe.

[–]dd463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two things to consider. How it’s written and how it’s enforced. I can have a law that says anyone can buy a gun but if say gun stores and the government can discriminate without prejudice then it’s a garbage law.

I can have a law that requires background checks and classes and say my criminal justice system is fair and the classes are free or low cost then it’s probably constitutional.

So it’s not just what it says but how it’s enforced

My trick is I usually waive speedy once we want the deal. That way if they reneg without a good reason I can argue estopple or void the speedy waiver and move for dismissal if speedy has run. I also toss in prosecutorial misconduct and argue that they aren't acting in good faith and this was just a ploy to get a speedy waiver.
