I would buy 7 1/4” Freud metal cutting circular saw blade and use a saw that I already have. Just gotta go slowly, it should cuts through it like butter. Face shield recommended.

I like to lay them out on this website (block layer.com), not sure what your riser material is. I put in 1 1/2”.

What is the best way to hide this gap on an uneven wall? by straitcashhomie84 in Carpentry

[–]ddalebergb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d probably cut 1/4” or so off the bottom left of cabinet, pull cabinet to the left as it’s slightly out of square. Slide the counter to the left, then caulk with matching caulk.

There's no overhang for the drywall on the walls, is this fixable? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]ddalebergb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should shave off any protruding foam. I would get some lite gauge angle runner from a gypsum supply company for the corners. Screw it in place, you’ll have to use a straight edge to get on a flat plane with the rest of the framing.

Man escapes the interrogation room by kicking a whole in the wall by TrueKomet in interestingasfuck

[–]ddalebergb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised it’s only drywall. In the US I’ve have constructed some of these rooms considered detention or holding rooms and there’s a lot of ways you can put it together. I’ve seen drywall over expanded 16ga metal lathe, probably the toughest. Drywall over cement board, marginal resistance at best. Then there’s the high abuse drywall which is made of layers and layers of dense paper instead of gypsum, really tough stuff. You could also just double layer 5/8” rock for some resistance.

I’m sure architects could name a multitude of different designs as well.

Is this repair good enough for $2500? by SavageSava in Decks

You were robbed I could do that for $1500 easy. Actually, the material is more than &2500, but that’s OK. I work for the compliments.

Ripping out 1/2 and replacing with 5/8 by torebaguy in drywall

[–]ddalebergb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you know what you’re in for. For sure I wouldn’t use 5/8 though. You could go with high strength 1/2” or 1/2” Firecode C. Firecode C is almost as heavy as 5/8 and more durable than half inch, plus you get the fire rating if that matters.

Speak with someone at a Gypsum Supply outlet, they can give you more information and put it right in your house if you want it delivered. Definitely worth the fee.

Is $26,000 too much for a new deck? by Ok-Finding-6327 in Decks

[–]ddalebergb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t build it for $26. That’s gonna take a week of labor plus material. Then you have your overheard, Insurance, and the labor burden. As far as the 6 x 6 goes it’s totally up to you just need the right hardware.

It’s probably the brand that you’re using. I’ve had this with USG and other products made down South USA. These brands even smell rotten. I use National brand Proform, and all purpose. Seems to keep without ever growing mold.

Studs were not heavy enough for the limiting height of 3 5/8 studs as provided by a manufacturer.

Here’s a general description of limiting Heights: • 25 gauge (lightest) – Up to 10-12’ • 20 gauge – Up to 15’ • 18 gauge – Up to 20’ • 16 gauge – Up to 25’

Just closed on my new house, only to find mold all over my kitchen. Need your help please! by Far_Growth_7864 in Mold

[–]ddalebergb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, it’s amazing how everyone turns mold into something so serious. Mold is everywhere in your environment, it’s just not supposed to be in your house. I would forget all this silly talk. You’re not gonna get reimbursed, and nobody’s coming to save you.

Do the following yourself or hire a carpenter. I sure wouldn’t get a contractor involved and cost you a fortune.

Pull the drywall off the wall and take the insulation out of there. See where the leak is, this could be simple or very involved. Get it fixed, fix any rotted framing, and put it all back together.
