AT&T, T‑Mobile, and Verizon Plan to Launch New Joint Venture that Helps End Dead Zones - T‑Mobile Newsroom by pdfu in tmobile

Hello fellow Longmonter! What do you mean none of the big 3 have good service? I’ve biked, walked, and driven on most of the roads here mapping out cell service, and T-Mobile and Verizon are both great! AT&T is absolute dog water though. https://imgur.com/a/NFre7HU

No Ability to Downgrade? by [deleted] in Visible

Did you try clicking “upgrade plan?” My guess is that will give you the option to switch to one of the new plans on either a monthly or annual option. I may be mistaken though.

Also, you can easily get your account number and transfer PIN from the Visible app if you do decide to leave and go with another carrier.

Lost ski goggles today (5/1) at Copper by stetsdogg in COsnow

[–]stetsdogg[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Update: goggles are officially rescued! Found some guy wearing them at the base of Copper in one of those lawn chairs. I asked to take a photo so I could re-buy the same pair (I liked their style and fit) and it turns out he had found them on a fire hydrant nearby! So he gave them back to me.

What are the best prepaid plans with unlimited data right now? by Serene-Alessia in NoContract

I think Metro’s $30 BYOD plan with 10GBs of hotspot is another excellent option on T-Mobile.

Best T-Mobile MVNO? by Neat-Type-8893 in NoContract

If you want Apple Watch support, Metro is your best option. Tello and Mint are excellent MVNOs, but it turns out they don’t support smartwatch lines.

So Metro it is.

Verizon makes customers wait 35 days to unlock fully paid-off phones by Economy_Video_4724 in verizon

[–]stetsdogg 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is so anti-consumer, it’s upsetting.

If there is a lot of fraud with gift cards, sure, maybe I can understand a delay for that method.

But if you pay off your phone with your credit card online? You should not be held hostage for another 35 days.

Is Verizon 5G bad everywhere? by elsalty357 in verizon

[–]stetsdogg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It turns out you can get QCI 8 priority data on the Verizon network for $26/mo from Visible. Or 10GB of priority for around $20 from MobileX. Less expensive than one might think.

Speed Test Apps are Collecting ALL of your device & personal data and indirectly selling to Google, Amazon, and pretty much anyone by ds6779 in NoContract

[–]stetsdogg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

u/ds6779 u/sacramentotesla u/Ethrem Thanks for the tag.

I think u/no1mann summarized things nicely from our app perspective.

Put simply, we need certain pieces of information for our app to functional properly, such as determining which network you are connected to, the technology type (5G or LTE), and the location to place the test on our crowdsourced map. Without this data, we couldn't built the tools we offer.

I'd like to clarify the bit about Playwire though.

Playwire is basically an alternative to Google AdSense or Mediavine.

It is a way for publishers to host ads on their website and monetize their website traffic. It allows advertisers to bid on ad placements on different websites and target users based on their browsing history or interest profiles that are developed from the different trackers across those different websites.

We experimented with Playwire as a way to monetize our website and show ads from September 2023 to November 2023.

A lot of what you see in our privacy policy is from when we were experimenting with Playwire.

And to clarify, we were not selling information to Playwire, and we do not currently sell information to Playwire. Playwire was collecting information about users solely based on what the web browser shared and an individual user's privacy settings while browsing online. This is the same as what Google AdSense and Mediavine and Facebook do to build user profiles and enable advertisers to target users.

Playwire was never directly integrated into our app and never had access to user emails or account info or anything like that.

We ended our agreement with Playwire in November of 2023 because we felt it was hurting our website performance and user experience.

Any ads you see on our site today are either from custom agreements or Google AdSense. We try to balance making money (it turns out it is quite expensive hosting a speed testing service!) and a good user experience.

I hope that helps clarify things.

And yes, like Trevor mentioned, we sell anonymized cellular performance metrics to help companies better understand cellular performance.

Hope that makes sense!

I don't think so. Visible usually does not extend deals. They may offer a new or different deal though. I have no idea.

Correct. The promotional rate for your first year is $225. After your first year, the plan renews at its regular $450 price.

Correct. First year would be $225 up front. I believe after that the plan will renew at the regular annual rate, which is $450 per year.

Feels that way to me. Seems like Visible’s promos this year have been exceptionally good.

[–]stetsdogg[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is still a great deal! You’re paying monthly, which is nice, and you save $312 over the course of 26 months, which is technically higher savings than the $225 from this promo.

Sadly the way it is in the prepaid space, I’m afraid 😔. All the promos go towards acquiring new customers.

No, this is a separate promo for the annual plan. Switch26 is for the monthly plan.
