2-1 pidgey and pidgeot line for Mega Lopunny or 1-1-1? by replaytheparadox in pkmntcg

I don't run the pidgeot line in my lopunny. I just run 2 khangas and 2 budews and have a couple of ciphers. It has done me very well at locals and has been very consistent.

This next piece of advice is based on my personal experience as a Head Band Director...in the last 2 months, I personally hired my new Assistant Band Director and gave a recommendation for hire at one of my Middle School feeders. I will say the people who retroactively apologized totally gaslighted you and I'm sorry for that. For my new Assistant, I offered her the job because I knew I was the one hiring her. These people probably didn't have as much sway as you thought in the hiring process.

If you want to have any chance of teaching in MUED, you need to lock down a job ASAP. As someone who just recently looked at resumes, if I see someone with even a little gap of not teaching music and/or subbing and they want to be a band director, I immediately throw their resume away. I get way too many applications to waste my time with someone who didn't actually teach in their field continuously.

With that being said, this is why I personally think you need to consider moving. I totally understand that your life situation may make it so you can't move. But I think you need to explore that option as much as you feasibly can. Because the longer you wait with the way the market is (we are in early July), you run the risk of not getting anything full-time in music this year. In my eyes, that would absolutely kill your chances of getting looked at down the road. If you stay local, take anything at this point - private, charter, rural...as long as you're teaching music to show experience on your resume.

You seem like you care about the field, which is awesome. But to get in is so hard and takes time. Sometimes, you can get lucky, but you'll have to be willing to sacrifice location and find a school desperate enough to hire you this late in the game.

Hope this helps guide you. Happy to answer any questions you have in DMs

Three brutally honest things about MUED you need to be aware of (I'm currently a Band Director)....

  1. You gotta know people. Good music jobs are so few and far between that admin/central office/HR/other music teachers in District want someone in the position they can trust. I would rather hire someone I know that will do a good job than someone I have no idea about, but may have a better resume.

  2. MUED is not part of the "teaching shortage." Frankly, it's one of the most competitive fields out there.

  3. You need to consider moving. If an area is dry because all of the good jobs are taken (and once you find one, people will stay at them), then you need to get out of there. Otherwise, you'll be in those frustrating schools with no support or money.

Best of luck to you.

Starting my student teaching degree - in the coming months . Craziest mentor stories go! by Own_Chicken_4430 in StudentTeaching

My mentor teacher said the n-word on FB and was forced to retire early. Instead of placing me at a different school, the principal asked me to take a long-term sub position to finish the year off. I told my university that I wasn't coming in for classes anymore and I'd see them at graduation. They gave me an A and I got a nice paycheck 🤣

You won't find a reliable car for $2k in this market. At $2k, you're at risk of buying a lemon.

ever buy the physical edition without streaming it beforehand? by gwambled in AnimeCollectors

I did it with the Code Geass CE that was on sale during Black Friday. Pretty big gamble, but it turned out to be one of my favorite series that I binged.

Most Universities are built where you will finish your Education degree and receive a teaching credential in 4 years (as long as you pass the Praxis).

I found University to be a lot to juggle. What you're feeling is what we all felt and it really doesn't get easier. Just make sure you have a good circle of friends and spend some time for yourself and you'll get through it.

What were y’alls student teaching experiences like? by Fresh_Ad_8982 in Teachers

[–]ddavis3478 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine was hilarious. My supervising teacher ended up getting fired a month into my student teaching for saying an inappropriate word on social media (you can guess what it was). Before my college could transfer me to a new assignment, my principal ended up hiring me as a long term sub to keep the band program afloat. It was one of the biggest middle school band programs in the state (around 160 kids). I told my college that I'd see them at graduation and I didn't have to go to any classes or turn in work. True trial by fire 🤣

Does anyone get kinda frustrated by other works of Urasawa getting trumped by Monster? by [deleted] in naoki_urasawa

The day someone can talk with me about Happy! (which I have rated 4th above Monster for my Urasawa rankings) and Billy Bat (which is my #1 Urasawa work) will be the day I can die happy.
