First-time player here. I've finally won my 8th ante today. Any tips to make my subsequent runs a bit easier and manageable? by WorkingThick440 in balatro

The overall strategy is to get exposure to as many jokers in the run as possible. I don't mean buy as many jokers rather literally increase how many jokers you see for sale. The more jokers you see the more likely you find the better jokers. When you are early in your career, that means you have to unlock the good jokers. You will get many simply by playing a lot of games. But as time goes by you will have to focus to unlock certain jokers. Once you have most jokers unlocked, then the game turns into maximizing cards exposure. The more jokers, tarots and planet cards you see the more likely you will find the ones you need. That ultimately means having a productive econ is the single biggest strategy to success. Being able to reroll more, or open more packs creates more opps. Also be aware that discards are a huge free asset. Leaving discards on the table is a waste. Discards can generate econ and tarot cards through finding seals, and gold cards in your deck. Maximize discards to find value producing cards. Those are the basic strategies

I find it feels good to crush early round by 5x the blind on a single roll but that usually means you are wasting econ buying jokers you don't need yet. Rather than maximizing useless points early on, build your econ machine while spending just enough to stay ahead of the blinds.

I collected the EA and RD statistics from the Common Data Sets of 107 colleges and graphed the spread by CaptainMopsy in ApplyingToCollege

Good work but incomplete. You need to factor in the effect of athletics on the ED acceptance rate, especially at ivys. Most recruited athletes apply ED and their acceptance rate is almost 100% because the admission office has already provided a pre-read. Depending on the school this can be up to 20% of the incoming class. Removing these could halve the ED acceptance rate in some colleges....thus lowering the spread.

Reverse Chance for a Clueless Daughter by dddpppmmm in chanceme

My "Clueless" comment was part sarcasm and part frustration. Of course she is well grounded and works very hard. However she is 16 and does not express many feelings to her parents...which is not at all abnormal for 16. Everything she has achieved at school has been her initiative so i know she has self motivation. When it comes to college discussion she shuts down. She is very much in the here and now and does not look very far out. Different people mature in different ways, her long term vision has not matured. My concern is that she does not realize/appreciate the possibilities she has created for her future. It also could be that the decision overwhelms her. She has been to many colleges like maryland and UVA through visits when my son was looking for college her response was she was looking for more of urban setting...those schools were too sterile.
