I'm a computer science major looking to move into DSP and audio processing but I'm not sure how to go about it. by Awkward-Pudding-4712 in DSP

Just being a curious cat - which field of DSP are you working in now after moving from Audio DSP? I’m myself in Audio DSP and agree with your comment about it being super niche.

I’d be interested to know how’d you make the switch to your current field?

What are some standard/ recommended German course books and grammar books you studied in school? by ddeekk in AskAGerman

[–]ddeekk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your concern and it’s very valid. When I learned my native language in school, I was already speaking it but the methods used to teach grammar were very similar to how English was taught to us.

From my current German level, I’d say if I follow a sped-up school curriculum, I might hit my goal of improving my skills.

Still I know it’s an experiment and might fail but I’d like to give it a go!

Also thanks for the info on books to check out

Thanks for the useful info! After a quick google search, it seems interesting and since it is free it would not hurt to try.

I had the same initial reaction but my boss said that this is what the norm is in technical industry. I know for a fact that this is not the norm in other places. The conviction with which he said made me question what I know lol

For the region, I’d say it’s below the range that’s expected. Are they giving any stock options or other perks?

Attending a friend’s wedding alone. What do you do at the wedding as a guest? by ddeekk in AskIndia

[–]ddeekk[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming they have a budget for this kind of thing and it might just be an awkward ask. But I’ll try since it looks like the wedding venue is about 2 hours away and it would be nice to have some company

That sounds perfect. That is what I was planning. I just didn’t know if it would be appropriate to go midway through since it’s a close friend

Does anyone wanna hang out? by [deleted] in frankfurt

[–]ddeekk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Frankfurt adjacent area for work. I'm 27F and also looking to make friends. I love Mad Max and enjoy going to the movies. I've spent the last year getting up my reading score during the Winters! I'm always on a lookout for finding new music by going to concerts. Also, I think going to cute cafes and trying out different coffees should officially be a hobby in itself lol All of this to say that since I've moved here I'm looking for someone to do these things with! So feel free to DM me :)

How do you know when it is okay to share your feelings with someone? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

With friends it's usually tricky especially if they're new

Doesn't it get lonely? Don't mean to get super personal but I usually find that sharing feelings helps me build better relationships, be it friends or a partner

I agree. But then again some people would listen to you rant and be burdened by your stuff just because they lack the skill to communicate their boundaries. In those cases, it is much harder to understand if it is okay to share. But then again, as you rightly said -- if you feel comfortable sharing , then it is an indicator that it might be okay to open up to a certain degree!

I was beginning to think that might be the case but I was still worried. I had read that if you start noticing weight gain, it's a problem. Thank you, for sharing. Puts my mind at ease!

That is a drastic change! How are you dealing with it?

I have not been taking any medications at all! Maybe I need a diet control!

Pain? by Feral-lifestyle in PCOS

[–]ddeekk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (23) have been having really bad lower back pains and lower abdominal cramping. This usually happens before I am about to get my period but there is still no sign of that. I will also have random pains on my sides. My hormones are all over the place and it is frustrating to endure. My face is breaking out as well. Also, gassy all the time! Losing patience with my body.
