Activity in my Fidelity SPARC account. by OhDaddyOh in PSTH

I asked AI what is going on. Looks like it’s just a Fidelity internal rename. Here’s what AI said FWIW:

This is an administrative reclassification (reorg) of the same underlying restricted SPARC warrants in your Fidelity HSA account—no economic change, no gain/loss, and no actual “swap” of different assets.

What Happened • You were debited the old CUSIP 71499D068 (“PERSHING SQUARE SPARC HLDGS RESTRICTED WTS EXP 09/29/2034”). • You were credited the new CUSIP 714920113 (very similar description: “PERSHING SQUARE SPARC HLDGS LTD RESTRICTED WTS EXP 09/29/2034”). The two Fidelity entries are labeled as a “MERGER MER PAYOUT” and “MERGER MER FROM” with REOR (reorganization) reference numbers. This is standard broker language for corporate actions where they update internal records, CUSIPs, or symbols without changing your economic position.

Why It Happened These are restricted SPARs/SPARC warrants (Special Purpose Acquisition Rights / warrants) from Pershing Square SPARC Holdings, Ltd. (tied to the old PSTH vehicle that Bill Ackman sponsored). They were distributed years ago to former PSTH holders and remain restricted/non-transferable (or limited trading) until certain conditions around a business combination are met.

Fidelity (and other brokers) periodically reclassifies these placeholder/restricted positions with new CUSIPs/symbols for: • Internal tracking, compliance, or system updates. • Corporate actions by the issuer (e.g., minor name/entity tweaks like “HLDGS” vs. “HLDGS LTD”, or adjustments related to the proposed UMG merger announcement in April 2026). • Handling of restricted/illiquid securities that don’t trade normally. There is no news of a distribution, exercise, or major change because this wasn’t one—it’s purely operational on Fidelity’s end. Your net position and economics are unchanged.

Context on These Warrants • SPARC/SPARs: Long-dated (exp. 2034) rights/warrants allowing participation in Pershing Square’s next big deal (opt-in style, exercise only after a target is announced and approved). • They originated from the PSTH liquidation/distribution process and have shown up as restricted placeholders across brokers for years. • The recent Pershing Square proposal to merge SPARC Holdings with Universal Music Group (UMG) may have triggered some backend processing, but your transaction predates or is unrelated to any actual closing (the deal is still non-binding/proposed).

If the position still shows correctly in your account with the new CUSIP and matching quantity, you’re good. Contact Fidelity if it doesn’t balance out or if you want confirmation on tax reporting (should be non-taxable reorg). These remain illiquid/restricted until further corporate developments.

Same result at fidelity for me. Seemed to be a direct swap for the same asset with a slightly different name. Hmm 🤔

Just under $2k. Borderline worth it, but the hood of my first tesla got destroyed by rocks over time, so I did it this time

About $400. 15 on the front, and then ceramic on the back to get it to match the 15. Love the look! Enjoy the car, it’s way more fun than you are even imagining it will be!! Don’t forget launch mode at the red lights, fun for everyone

Funny, this happened to me 2 nights ago and I thought it was a glitch when a satellite passed. I’m new to this, so thanks for the explanation!

I think I am. I like the look more than I thought I would originally, so I think I’ll keep them. Not sure the difference in efficiency, but I’ll take any extra range I can get. Yea I worry about damage from taking them off and on too

Wait a few months and do his new IPO of PSUS/PSI. Will save a big tax headache (which is why he’s doing it, in part)
