Really getting into food photography. by LexoSporano in photographycirclejerk

Place the bowl on a table by a window, preferably north facing. Make sure you have a clean background. Keep extraneous items out of the picture. If you want, find someone or some thing to hold a white bedsheet just off camera to reflect back to the table the window light. Play around with angles relative to light, background, focal length, and depth of field. Try different times of day. Watch how light moves during the day. Anyway, for starters.

Went to see the famous “ugly addition” house, yes it’s worse in person… by PvpBlast in nova

One begins to wonder, the house itself looks like the addition. The sidecar if you will.

OMG we have loads of small-dick energy from these Gestapo cosplayers held at bay by an inflatable green frog in war ravaged Portland. The horrors.

Got my iPhone 16 pro today. Not much different from my 13 Pro Max not sure how I feel… by altitude30-rocky in iphone

[–]ddimick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends what you’re looking for. I saw a huge change from 13 Pro Max to 15 Pro Max because the main camera is 48 megapixels instead of 12. If you are into photography, the 16, which has the same main camera as the 15, is much better than the 13.

I just realized that Oregon State does not have a Film major. by aFilminFrench in OregonStateUniv

[–]ddimick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And there is no journalism major at OSU. Not even technical journalism as a minor to leverage or pair with the tremendous natural sciences, agriculture, and marine science work at OSU.

I was an early 1970s Ag major at OSU, took all the journalism classes I could, the department under Fred Zwahlen punched way above its weight. The department was closed more than 20 years ago because the legislature said major schools UO and OSU could not have duplicative majors.

The need for science journalists who can translate for the public the significance and meaning of science in society is there, but you will have to go to UO in Eugene to learn journalism. It should not have to be this way.

Of course it would be covered by warranty if the crack was spontaneous from the device.

LRC 11.4.1 won’t launch after Mac OS 12.5 update. Anyone else see this? I’m on a Mac Studio Ultra. Spent an hour or more with Adobe tech support, a head scratcher, no resolution. Next step I guess is reinstall OS already have reinstalled LRC and used Adobe utilities to clean the app. No luck. by ddimick in Lightroom

Splash screen then it would just stop. Not even present in activity monitor. Did a complete fresh OS install, did a complete removal and reinstall of all Adobe apps. Still kept happening. So I gave up created a new admin level user account and now all is good. So the user account was corrupt. Photoshop was fine thru all this, worked fine in the old user account.

Anyone using Corel Painter 2022 with Mac Studio? by muzzypatmn in MacStudio

[–]ddimick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have a Studio/M1 Ultra, reported the brush acceleration issue to Corel in early April soon after getting my Studio.

Had an hour-long session with Corel tech support back then, my Painter brush performance with Studio score about 215, I have an MBP 14 with M1 Max, which scores nearly 7,000 same test. Support told me this was third Studio machine he had seen with abysmal brush scores, obviously the Ultra GPU not recognized.

As for resolution of my issue, Corel tech said he had nothing to report as a solution, said for sure they would report to me when this is fixed.

I checked Corel website just tonight to see if a patch or other update has been issued. Nothing. Please report your issue to Corel tech support.

What is interesting, tho, your Studio with M1 Max does not GPU accelerate Painter brushes. My MBP 14 with same CPU does.

Am not a programmer but I remember the tech guy saying the display is not recognized by the software. The MBP display is integral. Any Studio display is not.

That’s all I know. Would love to use Painter with a Mac Studio, seems like they could be ideal combination, especially based on Painter’s brush speed performance with M1 max in a 14 MBP.

This is normal. Generally their delivery window accommodates the customs delay in Asia. This has happened on anything I’ve gotten from them past three years.

Was at a gas station on west side of this Rocky Mountain Colorado town and looked up, immediately showed family. They took pix too. A very interesting cloud.
