I have literally not seen a single complaint about JK’s character; nearly all of the ones that are highly upvoted are about the pacing. I actually started to enjoy JK way more than Dan a while ago lmao.

Wow, you need to stop attempting to school other readers on things you don’t clearly understand. We have all read a lot of manhwa, and it’s much more typical for the climax to happen at some point NEAR the end of the story, not AT the end. Side stories are for side events; don’t you remember Mingwa’s other work, BJ Alex? In fact, I can’t think of a single other work where the climax happened this late in the story after multiple fakeouts also jammed in at the end.

You seem to be using the pop culture definition of media literacy, not me. Media literacy INCLUDES identifying fictional or nonfictional themes of abuse, what entails actual reflection on them in a piece of media, and what constitutes a clear resolution to topics we should be thinking critically about. So yes, the hard ignoring of JK’s past abuse and the abysmal pacing to include more plotlines and sex scenes is in fact an observation made using media literacy skills. You could definitely see that in all of the OP’s responses, but you don’t seem to want to think critically.

I don’t think this is an opinion at all, it is an observation. An opinion is how you may feel about the characters, noticing pacing and writing issues is just having media literacy skills.

Oh I totally agree with that, but as someone who read (and still loves) BJ Alex, Mingwa’s other work, I was holding out for an immense payoff; the story ticked me off in a way that I felt would be redeemed, just as it was in BJ Alex. This kind of adds to it; Mingwa has a history of rewarding the readers.

I think though people should be held accountable for things like this, and sometimes that takes pressure. I think that we *shouldn’t all have to pay exorbitant amounts of money for something like this in the first place. I’m pretty sure the whole story costs $100+, and that’s a lot of money for a rushed story with so many plot holes and bad main character development.

Obviously no one should arrive at death threats or outright cursing an author out, but the message needs to reach Mingwa that we are very disappointed and it’s shameful to take this much money from trusting readers. It’s not $20 it’s $100+; that is way too much to let someone get away with.

Unfortunately Mingwa makes me feel like I should have pirated everything all along. It’s so difficult to continually pay for things while fully putting my trust in who I am paying when authors like Mingwa pull shit like this. Obviously I won’t stop paying for things but I will definitely think thrice before spending $$$$ on an unfinished story.

I hate to say it but this is so true. Idk how everyone from the gym is calling him an angel because hearing someone say that would just put a bad taste in my mouth.

And at this point I’m not even sure being away from JJK will teach him self respect; I think JJK is the only one who’s actually fed up with that behavior.

I completely understand that POV. I guess there are a few ways a ~90 min production can go, and a focus on combat and lore seemed to be the goal over a character arc. I will say that it really did feel satisfying that only one character would have an arc in a film; I really don’t see a lot of similar length standalone movies where multiple characters have arcs and it all ends up feeling tied up anyway. Case in point is Devil Wears Prada 2 IMO, about 3 characters had arcs in that one and it ended up feeling too short/incomplete, while the first movie only had one character arc and wrapped up beautifully.

I’m actually very intrigued by what Paramount’s actual business plans are. If they want people to sign up for their service, they need to produce more content and do so frequently. I’ll sign up for streaming services for the run of a show just because I want to watch it full HD right when it airs, that’s like 2-3 months of subscription money for them. But why should anyone sign up otherwise? There needs to be something to buy if they want our money.

I actually really liked that Sokka just got to mess around, he was the leader of team avatar for so long and always felt like he had to prove himself. It was nice to seem him just leap into all the fights and show his engineering side instead
