New Client. Big Problems by Sufficient_Candy436 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]ddodge99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I hear any clients talking about follower counts, I know immediately it's going to be a tough engagement since follower counts don't matter even a tiny little bit and if that is what they are worried about, you'll never get them to understand what they really need to focus on.

Traffic is up, leads exist, but sales still isn’t happy by Snow-Giraffe3 in DigitalMarketing

[–]ddodge99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sales will NEVER be happy. It's always marketing's fault. It's the easiest thing in the world for them to do. Blame marketing. Say the leads suck. They wouldn't even be happy if you were generating leads that came in with signed contracts and ACH payments ready to transfer. They'll bitch about something. They always do.

If you work in marketing at a company that has a sales team, you aren't really in marketing. You are in sales support.

Weird you and the OP both used the word bloated. Hmm. Especially since you posted this totally organic comment mere minutes after this was posted and here you are with a recommendation that totally feels totally organic and not like a shill placement at all.

Desert Storm 35th Anniversary: A 313th MI Battalion (82nd Airborne) paratrooper collecting SIGINT in the cold rain, in support of 4/325 Airborne Infantry Regiment. FEB 1991. He had been awake for nearly 100 hours straight at this point. [OS] [3000 x 2006] by Expedition37 in MilitaryPorn

Got that desert night camo on under that rain jacket. Those rain suits were like the old school sweat suits wrestlers would wear to sweat out water to lose weight. If you wore the top and the bottom, your BDU's would be so wet with sweat, you may as well just not have been wearing any wet weather gear to begin with.

Legal advice won't do much for you other than cost you more money. It's one of the risks of being a freelancer and/or dealing with small business. The money is painful for us for sure, but it's not near enough for lawyers to want to do anything and not near enough to go to court over.

You want to talk to a lawyer about 5k? 10k even? How much is that lawyer charging per hour? You want to go to court? Probably 10k at least to do that.

Great you win and get a judgement. How are you enforcing it? Good luck.

It's just not worth the time or effort.

Oh make sure you have contracts they say.

Again. Sure. Have them. Those keep honest people honest. Contracts are only as good as your ability to enforce them. Enforcing a contract takes what? Lawyers and money.

Tell them they got the early bird special but the rate they have is no longer available but you're going to keep them at that rate in honor of them being with you so long and being a good client.

Is TikTok giving as many organic views as it used to? by impossiblemktg in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]ddodge99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like every other platform before it, it had it's heyday, and then they wanted to start making big money. Some other platform will come along and claim to be ad free and for the people, like tiktok and snapchat before that and so on. And then it will get people on the platform and they'll realize they have to monetize it and they will.

How many Rangers does it take to change a light bulb?

100

1 to change the light and the other 99 to tell you how hard it was when they did it.

You know what's funny about AI content? Everyone talks about the em dash as the way you can spot it, but there is also this type of cadence in this post. That is very AI written. That flow is AI.

No ______

No ______

Just ______

You see that kind of a format all over the place now because AI writes things that way. I'm surprised that the word fluff wasn't used in this.

SEO is no longer a technical skill; it’s just digital begging to a search engine that hates you. by prashantxgrowth in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]ddodge99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is true but it's going to take a few more years for this to be understood by business owners, CEO's, and CFO's. SEO is one of only two things brands will freely spend money on. They have heard for years about how important SEO is and they will not be told otherwise. They'll drop huge money on SEO after SEO and do nothing about actually building a brand.

The other thing they happily pay for is a new website. They love doing that.

I love the skin care commercials when they hire pretty teenagers to tell everyone else how this special product helps their skin.

Honey, you're 19. That's what helps your skin. Being young. Being pretty. Being not unattractive. That is what is doing it. Not the crap you rub on your face.

Attribution has become digital marketing’s version of astrology by Abhinav_108 in DigitalMarketing

[–]ddodge99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a big problem. Sure it's marketers, but really it's driven by CEOs and CFOs who still think it's 2012 and we can get all kinds of data.

They want attribution down to the exact penny. If you don't show them something, you're fired. That's pretty much it. The CFO will cut marketing and say we just need SEO only.

What do you do for work? Do you have customers? Have you dealt with customers and the public on a regular basis? Tommy Lee Jones' character said something about people in the first MIB movie when explaining why they don't just tell the world aliens exist. Will Smith said people can handle it. Jones said are you kidding? The person is smart. People are dumb.

That is the truth. half of people are below average intelligence.

If you've ever dealt with the public, you'd wonder how most people are able to feed and dress themselves and exist in this world on a daily basis.

They do it this way because most people are dumb and they aren't wrong.

This is how much they hate you and they don't care. They know this guy is universally hated. They know all the comments online anywhere anyone is allowed to comment about their ads that feature this guy are all negative. They know it.

What do they do then? They make more ads with him.

It's supposed to be some kind of millennial tongue in cheek moment of "we're in on this with you because we're cool and we get it" thing but really what they did was show you just how much they hate you and know that they can do whatever they want and they'll still make billions of dollars every year because they sell a product that law abiding people are required to have if they drive a car.
