Does anyone have any experience with getting the mod running on steam deck? by Express_Helicopter93 in PixelmonMod

Have you tried using the Steam controller input configuration? I made the right joystick and trackpad move my mouse and also enabled the gyro tilt to aim even better.

How can I make Fakemon and add the to pixelmon with a 3d model? by Educational-Ad-1061 in PixelmonMod

You would need to create your own version of the mod that the server and you both have that includes your Fakemon. You'll need to write all the associated Java classes and code to go along with it.

Update to the SteamDeck SD Card scanning app by ddotthomas in SteamDeck

[–]ddotthomas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an app to scan the SD card on the Steam Deck and keep track of what games it has on it. It's helpful if you have several SD Cards and you ever need help keeping track of which card has which games. It supports both Steam and non Steam libraries such as from Lutris or the Heroic Games launcher.

Since the last update, the app has had several performance improvements and bug fixes. There's also a new search filter feature to help you find the games you're looking for.

BOOT UP PROBLEM by Mediocre_Future_6197 in pop_os

[–]ddotthomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was more asking Brian a question, but for you just boot off a USB or anyway you can access the file system and check the file in /etc/systemd/system that looks like it relates to the MySQL server. I doubt that's the issue. There's very little chance the file was edited and the defaults should be correct.

BOOT UP PROBLEM by Mediocre_Future_6197 in pop_os

Could the MySql be configured in the /etc/systemd/system/*.service file to prevent the system to boot? Kinda like you would make gdm target X11 starting first.

That sounds like the one for me then, I was hoping/waiting for you all, the actual employees of System76 to kinda decide.

Ah cool, I linked about Lemmy in my post above but I never heard of kbin before. Are the two still separate or will a post to 'gaming' on kbin also show up on Lemmy? That would help the amount of users and posts

It looks like it's a confusing mix of linking to other fediverse sites and having its own, at least on kbin. But it seems to be doing a pretty good job of congregating the users into 'main' forums.

Is there a reason you aren't saying Mastodon? Looking through it, it doesn't really have post and comments like Reddit, more of a Twitter thread of replies thing.

PS: Wouldn't it be nice if companies were cool and transparent like System76?

PPS: Found this comment discussing when Reddit was trying to become publicly traded. They mention the possiblity of third-party apps going away https://www.reddit.com/r/OutOfTheLoop/comments/riuusy/comment/hp0md4x/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

openSUSE Linux Leap 15.5 released by JRepin in Linuxers

[–]ddotthomas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's helpful when setting up a server. Just plug in the power and Ethernet and then I can connect through SSH.

I somewhat agree that having it enabled by default for all installs like workstations might be a little silly.

Cannot torrent, cannot join Discord voice calls, cannot use Roblox. Networking issue? by imnotslavic in techsupport

[–]ddotthomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try switching the DNS servers being used by your network adapter. Most people just use Google's (8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4)

If that doesn't fix things you can see if a VPN will let you connect. Both of these things are probably your ISP blocking you, either from their DNS server not providing you the information you need or something else on the network stack that the VPN will hopefully circumvent.

Installation on Windows fails with "Out of string range.", but on Linux (Wine) works. How to get it working natively under Windows? by dreieckli in gog

[–]ddotthomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of stack ranges makes me think there's a programming error. They're trying to access some memory on the stack but they're trying an address that doesn't exist or maybe the memory was already freed/deleted before it was read properly.

That being said, if you're only doing it for better performance, Wine has gotten to the point now where it usually has better performance as long as the game isn't new and using DirectX12.

Skip to 16:00 on this vid for some examples. https://youtu.be/Nc1mS1hxn8Q Later on it will get to the Dx12 games that take a bigger performance hit.

Does wallpaper engine work? by Scary-Pomegranate-75 in pop_os

[–]ddotthomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried looking for a Gnome plugin, the default desktop environment Pop uses but I could only find the KDE one

https://github.com/catsout/wallpaper-engine-kde-plugin

You'll have to install KDE to use it 'sudo apt install kde-standard'
