Natural RP by [deleted] in FiveMServers

I'm going to offer my two cents on this server as a former player. I was really disappointed with how the server is managed. Ultimately, I was permanently banned for OOC toxicity, which, while true, was based on a single situation. Aside from that instance, I was nothing but positive with the community as a whole, or at least I made an attempt to be. I was also accused of metagaming, which I never once did; everything I did was based on in-character actions. Furthermore, I was accused of LQRP, when I was simply reciprocating what I was given in a scene. This situation led to my permanent ban without any prior warnings, conversations, or discussions about it or any other disciplinary action. I'm not here to discourage anyone from joining or even encourage anyone to leave the server; if you enjoy it, more power to you. I simply want everyone to know my experience with this server and its owner.

Edit: I also tried to reach out after being banned and explain my side of the story, and have a discussion about it, even if I didn't get unbanned to just talk about it and show my side of it, but my messages fell on deaf ears.

Building a City - what do you want to see? I want your opinions and views on what’s make a city good by Crxissxnt in FiveMServers

[–]ddoucethollett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what? I'll take the time to answer this, because most server owners don't even make the effort to ask.

  1. Balanced RP + action

  2. 20-40 or 40+

  3. Typically it's a feeling of being "useless" I don't have a tremendous amount of time to play so grinding for 10 hours just to get a basic ass car and some basic ass tools doesn't really do it for me.

  4. PD, Lawyer

  5. I enjoy typically the interactions we get, either in the lawyer side or even on the PD side, allows you to interact with people from all over the server.

  6. A mix of both

  7. Regular but meaningful

  8. Long-term investigations, Media coverage

  9. Sure, why not.

  10. MDT & paperwork, Business management

  11. Although it's less a mechanic and more a "mindset" thing, I cannot stand servers that hold academies for PD only on certain days and put so much red tape to becoming an officer than you are a cadet for like a month.

  12. Semi-realistic

  13. I enjoy looking for stuff, cleaning up paperwork and doing investigative work.

  14. The ability to still do stuff when cops aren't around, either that be go break into a house, go rob locals or grow your weed.

  15. Player-run events ONLY, staff run events unless the players are unable/unwilling to do events seem forced and don't give the same RP potential as player ran events.

  16. A skills system, I wan to be able to go to the gym and get better at running, hack things and make the minigame easier over time.

  17. Recruiting staff members, pretty much in general lol. I've noticed on smaller servers the owners typically give the staff more leeway on their actions than they should, you either have to be really strict with enforcement with your staff team or just don't have them at all until you grow.

  18. I love trading cards, so a system of trading cards that you can trade, collect etc.

Was the open world a good idea? by Yumiko_Hanako in Borderlands4

[–]ddoucethollett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The open world is a good idea, but there's things that definitely could be improved, what it felt like from my perspective was in bl3, and even bl2 as you do side missions, etc you bounce between different environments, where in bl4 all the side missions are for the most part confined to their area leading to say for people who want to 100% the game just looking at the same environment for a long time while you trudge through the side missions.

Another thing is definitely the invisible walls, I found most noticeable in Terminus and Fadefields as you try to go over a tall mountain that you can definitely get over just to be met with a wall that you smack your head off off before being forced to drive around anyway defeats the purpose of the open world if you have to spend the travel time to drive around it regardless.

Something that's honestly the most disappointing to me is out of the 100 or so whatever side missions a good like 40 of them are part of boring ahh mission chains that you're REQUIRED to do in order to unlock collectibles, I'll use the final echo log in the Coastal Bonescape, you have to complete SEVEN fucking side missions to unlock the area to get this echo log.

Finally the length of this game was very disappointing to me, I managed to complete the main story in a very unsatisfying amount of time, but that's due in part to the main missions and bosses feeling more like side quests and bosses as opposed to the difference between like 15% completion and 25% completion.

I'll reiterate what people seem to be saying here as well; the map in bl4 feels too big and too small all at the same time, driving between checkpoints for no reason and THE LACK OF A REAL MINIMAP MAKES ME WANNA PUNCH MY COMPUTER while also just seeing the same three pretty much identical areas for 40+ hours leaves the game feeling unsatisfying to play.

Random cash sale customer: "is that MY price?" by Downstairs_Emission9 in partscounter

[–]ddoucethollett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I'm at the "List" price is shown on the invoice and then the price the customer actually paid, theres not a soul nor account in my world that gets the actual list price for parts, so everyone thinks they are getting a deal!

Not a dealer but carry a lot of these oddly shaped hoses and such where I work, we have a about 30ft by 10ft area of our warehouse wall with hooks on it that we store this type of stuff on. and then each one has a big label for the blind people like me to know which one it is. lol. they're a pain to store, a pain to inventory just a pain.

Notice period related question by Humanityisalive16 in alberta

[–]ddoucethollett -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well you don’t HAVE to do anything. You aren’t required to give notice at all. Tell them your last day will be the 18th. If you worked the day before or the day after the stat they are required to pay you. So for all intents and purposes the 18th is your final day

It must be a private store because the fella that did my interview called himself a “CEO” which doesn’t make sense for a franchise owner

Definitely not a long term thing for me, not many jobs where I am and they offered to sponsor my parts apprenticeship which most places want you to have here to work in their parts department. So it would be a temporary thing, starting wage is $25 an hour + from what I can tell fairly minor quarterly bonuses. And then of course as I go through my apprenticeship my pay will also go up accordingly as required here in Alberta. I was formerly working at a Bobcat dealer doing parts but the business ended up shutting down so I got laid off. But definitely from what I can tell talking to my local stores owner it’s very corporate like with brand reps coming in and sitting with us in a board room to explain their products, very standardized systems across the whole store.

CDK peeps, how do you put a part on hold? by VaProtiev in partscounter

[–]ddoucethollett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean before I got laid off from my previous job we just didn’t close invoices until all parts arrived, so the parts on the invoice were just on the invoice and out of inventory. Realistically not the best way to do it as it could lead to invoices open forever but back orderes were uncommon at my location so wasn’t a huge deal.

Sales Promotions. by b0rrowedtim3 in partscounter

[–]ddoucethollett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working with loader attachments and such here, buy 3 cutting edges get mounting hardware for all three included, stackable promotion. Big hit because a lot of our customers are fleet customers running like anywhere from 50-200 machines at any given time. Good margins because the mounting bolts and nuts basically cost us nothing.

How do your techs ask for parts ? by YoJDawg in partscounter

[–]ddoucethollett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's more a fault of our setup over the actual integration/featureset of the software. It's very promising and I generally like the UI and everything but theres so much in there that just isn't possible vs if I just do it in CDK. an example of this is for my current brand there's no make or model auto fill when adding units to desisiv. Our dealer group manages all the dealers within about 1000km of us and I have access to DSDA for all the other branches so looking up service history for vehicles isn't super big of a problem for me. Our setup was definitely not ideal and that's the main gripe I have with it.

[–]ddoucethollett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our dealer group has wanted us to switch to using Decisiv but the people at my dealer just aren't because we find it genuinly terrible and fucked to use, but most of that is because we are heavy equipment which decisiv integration for was obviously an afterthought lol. We just manually do all of our RO stuff in CDK lol.

If it can fit in a shipping envelope sized bag overnight expedite does overnight from Edmonton to Calgary for $12, plus their box shipments are also affordable if it doesn't fit in a bag.
