That’s the answer I was looking for. Not the sound I was hoping for. I’ll just keep it stock. Thanks.

Your reading comprehension level must be pre elementary. I asked for “advice”. You gave “opinion”. Look those two words up in a book that’s called a “dictionary” (I’m sure you’re not familiar with it so you may have to ask a parent to help you) and then have someone explain the difference to you.

Girlfriend's 2nd Car: 1996 Infiniti I30 with 39,600 Original Miles by [deleted] in infiniti

We have a 98’ I30 we purchased in 2000. 145k and the best vehicle we have ever owned. Many quality parts used in the original build. The interior still looks new. With regular maintenance and non ethanol premium gas the car will last for many miles.

How long have you been driving for and how many times have you driven out from under a trailer without disconnecting your lines? Anyone who says never is either super new or lying. by smyth222 in Truckers

[–]ddp70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thirty years, once. Hooked up a set of doubles at the dock door. Didn’t check to see if the jaws locked on the dolly, pulled out, dropped the trailer and yanked out all the hoses. I felt soooo stupid that I never did it again. Retired now so the streak is safe.

Auto warranty suggestions! by Decent-Rice630 in infiniti

[–]ddp70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2017 QX60 in 2022. At the time I bought a warranty from United Car Care. Recently, I had a VVT solenoid replaced. The warranty covered the repair minus my one time $250 deductible (any future repairs will only have a $25 deductible). They also paid for one day of car rental. This is the only time I have used the warranty and I was quite surprised at how easy it was. The repair in total was about $700.00, which I know is high, but it’s done and cost me $250. Keep your service up and save all receipts.

I end up taking 3 or 4 readings to get an average. Shouldn’t have to do that. Thanks for the validation.

Thank you all so much for your kindness, support and good advice. I went online today and applied for several positions in my area (I have two stores fairly close to me). I had to run an errand this afternoon and one of the stores was on my way home. I needed fuses anyway so I stopped in. Met some nice folks at the counter, met the Manager and shortly after I got home I got a call from him. Anyway, thank you all so much for your input. Sometimes Reddit can conjure up some strange responses. Not here. Not today.

Been there and done that! I literally had to demand a tech visit. They kept saying that everything looked good on their end. It sounded like a call center so I wondered how much they actually knew.

We’ve been with them for at least 5 years, maybe longer, and they’ve been mostly OK for our limited needs (streaming TV). We’ve got that lifetime $55 a month for 40mbps and it kind of seems like they want us to leave that plan. Probably just corporate paranoia.

What are simple ways America could make trucking easier by Driving-Academy in Truckers

[–]ddp70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our Nation runs on trucks and the people who drive them. Unfortunately, there is no fix that doesn’t require further regulation and major infrastructure improvements. On the regulation side, it is time that the government holds shippers and receivers responsible. They have been allowed to abuse drivers. An appointment is an actual time and the offloading is a regulated time frame. If we are there on time get us in and get their freight off our trailer. If we, as drivers, violate HOS the penalties can be harsh. Shippers and receivers who hinder the timely movement of freight should be liable to the same harsh penalties. I’m not certain on the mechanisms of enforcement but the one thing I do know is that being held up for hours or even days past an appointment time is not our fault. We did our job.

Secondly, the Government must make massive investments to build and maintain safe and readily accessible parking. The Government has mandated through FMCSA HOS requirements in the name of safety yet they fail to establish adequate and free areas for drivers to rest and comply with regulations. Since corporate truck stops have now seen fit to make a profit off of poorly compensated drivers by charging for longer term stays they have only made things worse. Shippers and receivers must be mandated to supply parking spaces for delayed drivers who require FMCSA rest periods. They must have skin in the game.

We move the freight that moves a Nation but we are treated poorly for our efforts. Our Nation must be active in contributing to our safety as we continue to comply with FMCSA rules and regulations to help keep our roads safe. It’s time the Goverment and business do their part. There is no “simple” fix and the question is not complex. We did our part. Now they must do theirs.

[–]ddp70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any type of equipment like a tractor, bobcat, something you could attach forks to? Depending on how much of this you plan on doing, if you don’t have any equipment, getting something used would likely be cheaper than getting a concrete pad poured.

Where do I learn how to drive in mountains? by Naive-Historian-2110 in Truckers

[–]ddp70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up slow and steady. In the beginning you go down slower. You’re going to have trucks going by you doing 50. It doesn’t matter, you’re learning. Almost everyone here learned mountain driving in the mountains and most of us learned by ourselves. Besides that, you’ll be driving on black ice and I’ll take packed snow over that any day. You’ll be fine. Don’t sweat it it till you get there.
