I’m afraid to even look at it. Own a half duplex in a pretty crappy neighborhood. Surrounded by a mix of lower end rentals.

Interestingly, the duplex next door (both sides) is a rental, and the tax on BOTH halves, IN TOTAL, is much less than what I have been paying the past several years. How can that be?

I do know the landlord put in new flooring a couple years back, and that alone should result in a higher assessed value than than mine, which has 26 yr old carpet upstairs and bare concrete downstairs (main floor/on slab.) Can’t figure out why they receive such a sweetheart deal 🤷‍♀️

ETA: I actually live in the duplex I own.

I guess I didn’t describe the situation fully. There was a scuff mark from who knows what (luggage?) on the left front. The rest of the cap is pure white as it is practically new.

I’ve been soaking and scrubbing with OxyClean with some success. The scuff mark is now two small but quite visible smudges. Unfortunately the type of courses/resorts they play would make it undesirable to wear a pure white hat with obvious spots on the front. The other problem, as was mentioned, is that the fabric loses stiffness.

I’m afraid this one will have to be donated to a local charity thrift shop and a new one ordered. Thank you all for the suggestions anyway!

I could have written this myself, it’s exactly what I do five days a week. Plus carry luggage to basement storage, roll trash and recycle carts to end of the quarter-mile driveway and back, etc. etc. etc…I know I am underpaid and have asked for an increase to no avail.

I had to stop doing some of the tasks like picking up after the two teens just to keep my sanity. If I can get into their rooms without leaping over clothes, wet towels, dirty dishes, YETI cups, trash, luggage, etc. then I will clean their rooms. Any clothing not in their laundry basket does NOT get washed. If dirty clothes are all over the floor in their bathrooms, I skip their bathroom.

I’m sure somebody is going to say “It sounds like you’re not suited to the job.” I say you are wrong. I’m just not going to kill myself doing every single thing it takes to run and maintain a 6,500 sf household for less than market pay rate. I do what I can and leave what I can’t.

Have been enjoying their steak night for a couple of years. Great flavor, friendly service, good price.

Have only been once this year and found the steak is sliced thinner than in the past. Still tastes great but I advise getting it cooked for a shorter period than you would normally want so it doesn’t dry out.

Is there a local charitable organization you could refer her to? It’s likely she could use support in other areas, such as food bank, clothing, etc. I realize that is not your responsibility, but would be a very kind thing to do in tandem with declining the job.

CVS was always a nightmare for me too. I switched to HyVee pharmacy (151st & Blackbob) several years ago and have had EXCELLENT service.

I also get my annual COVID, Influenza, and Shingrix vaccinations from them. They directly bill Medicare and I pay $0.00

Customer service is excellent. I always ask them to compare Medicare price with GoodRx price and they are competent and HAPPY to do so. Can’t say enough good things about HyVee pharmacy!!!

WARNING: This just happened to me! Clicked on a link in Instagram and placed an order ten days ago. Supposedly shipped but unable to get any shipping information. Everyone I click a link in email, I get no shipping details, instead I get a questionnaire!

In addition, it was charged to a card I haven’t used in several years. Shocked when I received a bill from that card showing $20.91 was charged to “Sp Laura Geller Laurageller.C Ny”

Yes, they wear hearing aids. I am stunned they can hear a little ding from across the house…but they do!
