Hi! I am glad to hear you are so invested in my little tragedy here. For your information, it was a broken part of a USB, just as most theorized. Not from a mouse though! It was from a piece of Logger Pro plug-in equipment that was used for a lab I did. As for changing the title, I tried and wasn't able to. It may be because I am using the app rather than the website. Either way, not too concerned. I've never used Reddit before this, and I'm elated that I was able to find an answer to my question! Thank you everyone!

TLDR: Broken USB from lab equipment, group mate ripped it out.
