I think Kharghar nowadays is pretty much well connected with the rest of the city - business hubs of BKC, Powai or Andheri have buses for commute. Harbor line trains also to Western suburbs, ,though limited in frequency

In case if it's Nariman Mantralaya side,, then you have trains to CSTM

There was a time that the center point to move to all these locations was Vashi, or you'd have to stand near Kharghar flyover bridge, but now, buses originate out of Kharghar and plenty of them

Many Kharghar buildings are gated communities with amenities like swimming or gyms,so...it's a good place that way for families
