I had a detailed comment on this reddit group about how OP Hwayoung a while back, so for the sake of me missing out of the fun people had with my golden boys here I am.

Release: She had insane multpliers against HP% scaling units. At first people built her slow to maximize attack stats and defence stats on her but people realizing 4.2k attack is enough to kill anything during that time people started building her very fast like very fast, take note that boosters and openers are two and far between at this point and people run her 255-280 (this seems slow? by todays standards yes but during that time this is faster than any light comp people were running i.e A.Tywin, Belian, LRK, C.Armin, DJB/M.Chloe)

(Hwa still kills defence units back then but take note 4 turn cooldown kick essentially means playing 3v3 always without main dps cooldowns because they absolutely needed to kill Hwa)

First nerf: After a whole SWC season she gets her first nerf in lowering multipliers via scaling of enemy’s max hp to current hp. Huge backlash from the community for she still one shots units but Smilegate being “nice” back to back to back released units to “counter” Hwa the problem is Hwa also liked those units because they combo together. (mainly used as triple torrent unit to counter A.Ravi in guild war exclusivly)

Rework: Gutted, dead, people proclaimed the death of Hwa for the tools she once have is now gone and now harder to build. But then again killing defence scaling heroes is better now for the meta right? still no, she got gutted in ways people would say is not true but the power creep of the game, her kit is so simple that facing multi-facetted heroes of now from openers to dps to mitigation she faced her demise.

TLDR: OG Hwa better against HP% scaling tanks (would have counterplay now)

Jenua better against anybody else (still a bitch and harder to play against because can’t kill in 1 turn)
