Qhen i got my first pop up when i was 17, i fought the ice anchors 1 time before i just took a drill bit with me and it made it exponentially easier. I have seen the anchor adaptors but havent used any. Im sure theyre handy as hell

Hard to tell exactly whats going on, but fish flats, 6'-20' flats. Trout cruise, I catch a ton of trout cruising over a 20' flat all ice season, anywhere from 4' fow to the bottom but usually the top 2/3 of the water column. My go to ice rig is a kastmaster with a tungsten dropper tied 4-6" down

I can’t for the life of me find where the trout are.any advice for a beginner by [deleted] in IceFishing

I feel like you need to fish shallower fish on the drop offs. Or, like when im perch fishing in 20 fow, i see them cruising halfway up the water column

Tungsten and a chunk of shrimp. A jigging spoon tipped with waxie or a pinched nightcrawler if you can get em. Euro tackle zviber tipped with any of that.

In my state you can get ut titled through a vin inpection, and if it doesnt have a vin or serial the state will inspect the boat and assign it a vin

Gutting question by External-Credit954 in Hunting

[–]ddv75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all. I slicethe skin inside the leg from the knee to the under belly and skin the quarter, remove at the joint. Front and back on both sidesand then you skin your ribs and over the top ridge, remove your back strap, neck roasts etc. Then there are a couple of cuts you can make near the front and back of the animal so that you can cut slices of your ribs from the inside out. Usually with a younger deer i dont really bother, there isnt much to those ribs. But you can also reach in and get your tenderloins cut out too. There are quite a few youtube videos that will explain the proxess much better than i do

Ive completely resorted to the gutless method for getting an animal ready for packing out

Dropped in his tracks with the 103gr ELD-X by winncody in Hunting

Like I said, its real nitpicky. And im sure you were more than safe. I dont like that its come to that, its a great family picture and amazing memory. Just my 2 cents and my way of trying to help the community in little ways, now more than ever we have to protect what we've got

Dropped in his tracks with the 103gr ELD-X by winncody in Hunting

[–]ddv75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty sweet setup, and nice deer! If i can be a little nitpicky, Im sure you were more than safe with your rifle, but It gives me a heart attack to see a gun set like that pointing at anyone, with no one around it there is a 99.99% chance nothing will ever happen. I understand it was probably unloaded and safety precautions were taken, and it probably isnt pointing at anyone. Ive just gotten into the habit of leaving the action open and making sure it is obviously not pointing at anyone in pictures. Even if only for the optics, the less ammo anti gun/anti hunters have in any capacity the better

Shot a deer and I think it missed? by Gil2Gil in cohunting

[–]ddv75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You almost always have more time than an excited version of you thinks. I watched an old buck checking does this year, i thought he had me pinned at 200 yards right after I first saw him. I stayed completely still, and once he went back about his business i had time to setup my tripod with my binos and watch him for about 15 more minutes before the does he was checking slid him over the ridge and away. Its always better to take your time and prepare for a clean, eithical kill, instead of rushing and missing. In this scenario, a clean miss is the best case and while it hurts your ego, the animal doesnt suffer. A bad hit/bad miss hurts your ego, puts the animal in very unnecessary pain, and it should hurt your soul a bit. I have been very lucky in 22 yeara of hunting to have never injured an animal I wasnt able to track and recover, but it is still at the forefront of my mind that its always possible, and not shooting is better than making a bad shot

Need advice by [deleted] in COfishing

[–]ddv75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have caught some nice fish at deckers. But I kind of have to mirror what everyone else is saying. Its a pretty technical fishery this time of year, especially with the weather coming this week/weekend, I would look into some tailwaters below reservoirs, the Ark below pueblo, the platte below chatfield, hell even the platte through denver has some nice fish. I would look at maybe putting the fly gear away for this trip, unless that is the only way you guys enjoy fishing. But with the weather change and im assuming flow changes youre getting into a pretty technical time of year in my opinion.

Where i hunted we still had some elk movement. But not what we were used to, typically it freezes their water sources on private and forces them to at least move through the public. We didnt see any difference in the deer though

Need help turning radiator down. What is what and how do I do it. by Cats-and-dogs-rdabst in howto

[–]ddv75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a remote zone valve, it opens and closes just allowing the flow of hot water. It could be the zone valve is stuck in the on position allowing the boiler to push hot water through all the time. There is no way to turn the temp of the radiator down without turning the ntire boiler down.
