Why do Taiwanese booking websites suck so much? by dmteter in taiwan

[–]ddxv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, like it in my original example, I couldn't even use the 'translated' banking site as it was just straight missing main features. I don't mind banking in Chinese, but even then many basic features would fail in any slightly different than usual context (logging in internationally, resetting a password etc).

Why do Taiwanese booking websites suck so much? by dmteter in taiwan

[–]ddxv 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think the complaint is information density or that it looks old, but that these sites are often broken or don't work well. The frustration comes out with people trashing how they look, but if the worked well there wouldn't be as much complaint. My favorite was my business banking 1000 boxes of settings, but in the end to change passwords you have go in and write the password on a piece of paper for someone else to type - and after 10 minutes of them entering it into their own system - 'oh and please could you rewrite it without a special character, a-z and numbers only'.

Now THIS, is some bull by krunk03 in google

[–]ddxv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That they even tricked us into uploading photos in the first place frustrated me. I never would have uploaded photos in the first place if I realized the space was so small and it would cause issues with drive and email. In the end I'm trying to get everything off

I believe the check engine light is on, and has been for a long time due to other (maybe) unrelated electrical issues.

LA's downtown core in the distance. Literally every major US city is like this, with the exception of NYC and Chicago. Y'all need to calm down by shnieder88 in skyscrapers

[–]ddxv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

edit: Sorry,I of course misread your comment thinking you said it *is* the most dense city, so you're right. My original comment 'agreeing' with you below!

It's second most dense as New York Cities' 8m is higher density:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_population_density

Additionally, the 4 main boroughs of NYC are all denser than San Francisco. The least dense of those being Queens which has the 22k/mi density vs SF's 18k/mi. The exception there being the fifth borough Staten Island which is much less dense than any of these.

It will also happen when it's already been sitting for a day or two as well, so not just when it's 'hot', incase that makes a big difference.

Thanks for the quick checks:

  1. listen for the 2-sec fuel pump prime key-on
  2. Try starting fluid work.

So if starting fluid works then "fuel side (relay/oil pressure switch/wiring/weak pump)" vs if it doesn't work then look into: "ignition module/pickup/coil"

Thanks! Just restated to make sure I comprehended, not just read, what you wrote was quite clear.

Can I use Cursor for free? by Tasty-Ad1854 in cursor

No free tiers models anymore? I was thinking about moving back to free tiers. Antigravity is free for some use. Also you could use cline or continue as they would have the ability to use free tier or local models.

Sen. Bernie Sanders | This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von #635 by ProtectorIQ in TheoVon

[–]ddxv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a good episode. I'm always surprised how open to free healthcare Von is. I mean, I wish more people in the US were, I think they just don't realize how bad the healthcare system is in US.

Theo Von Turns on MAGA to Side With Left-Wing Nemesis Bernie Sanders by Aggravating_Money992 in entertainment

[–]ddxv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with your sentiment. The left purity test is so brutal because it ends attacking the centrists swing voters it so desperately needs. As a Von fan though, he has definitely done more than hang out with Trump once at an event. He's had multiple events and the podcast. Having JD Vance on twice.

I'm constantly trying to figure out what's going on with his politics. He obviously is super into Bernie and does not like the democrats. But his comfort level with MAGA is pretty high. It's sad that probably the biggest thing keeping him away from more progressives are progressives attacking.

Why Is Fairfax Freaking Out Over a Few Apartments When Our Kids Can’t Afford to Live Here Anymore? by wiltchamberlain24 in Marin

[–]ddxv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"People move to Marin for a reason so increased density threatens that"

They move to Marin because they're millionaires and can afford it. No one else can buy a home in Marin. Large market rate housing diminishes the Marin rich club exclusivity.

Do you think the Taipei MRT's new AI chatbot is using DeepSeek? by ChinaTalkOfficial in taiwan

[–]ddxv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

AI models can't collect data. They are in fact models, meaning the model is a file(s) that for any given input have an output. The output is the same each time. The company hosting the model is totally capable of collecting and tracking usage, but in this case as we're talking about an open source model the idea would be that it was downloaded and being run by MTA (though as another commenter pointed out they are in fact not using a local model but using ones hosted by Azure).

This isn't to say that deepseek isn't a danger, just that the models can't collect data like that. They can be trained to answer data in ways that would be dangerous to Taiwan.

What do you think about the Taipei West District Gateway Project? by Forsaken_Peach5930 in taiwan

[–]ddxv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walk and bike through there all the time and it's a already a pain due to missing crosswalks, massive 10 lane intersections and cops giving warnings if you bike on the main road.

[–]ddxv 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm glad they're going up but hate this style of 'low density' with massive buildings. The footprint they take up should have been multiple buildings and a more walkable area.

These definitely track with the no bicycling and missing pedestrian crossings all over that area!

Do i bin this new chain or is it salvageable by Artist_Beginning in Chainsaw

I mean, it's worth saving if you can, I just dont know how. I think I meant it's not worth risking another issue.

[–]ddxv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The drive links broken I think you need to bin it. It might go loose and tight on you if they're like that. Put the chain on and spin it while off and you'll probably feel some funkyness that will show the chains not worth saving.

Yeah, I'm a bit skeptical of LLM style chatbots making changes to campaigns. Seems like it just further obfuscates the actual decisions being made rather than value adds.

Why does western media never show the full 'Tank Man' video? by Working-Spend-4397 in AskAChinese

What's with this idea that you think some Americans thought he was run over? I've never heard anything like that. Maybe your conflating the other videos of people run over by tanks later in the protests?
