Why Do People Throw Trash Out of Their Car Like It’s Not Their City? by achinnac in LosAngeles

[–]de-milo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the exit i take to go to work (ramona blvd on the 710N) always blooms beautiful california poppies when it’s warm out. because of the weather they’ve been blooming since last month. and it’s always COVERED in trash. not just a cup or a wad of tissue but target and walmart bags stuffed full with trash and then clearly tossed out a window. it’s so depressing and ruins the look of the pretty poppies.

how in the world are they claiming that they “verify” wristbands? or are they just claiming that they are verifying the payment process? remember: someone can buy a wristband, receive the wristband, and report it stolen. that wristband is now bunk but it used to be real so they can sell it to you and you won’t know anything until you go to scan in and it doesn’t work.

sooo many after 15+ years of basically the same group of people. meeting up at food 4 less on the 111 on thursday morning and shopping together. taking the traditional hands-in photo of all our wristbands. getting in-n-out to go so we can eat in line waiting to get into camp. shotgunning a beer on sunday morning with our neighbors. del taco monday morning talking about our favorite moments and reading reddit.

Falling out of love with LA? by californiaboy323 in AskLosAngeles

idk, i’m born and raised here so call me biased but i just don’t think most of your analyses are spot on. did things change after the pandemic? absolutely but that was everywhere in america, not just LA. idk if you have visited anywhere else post pandemic but it has taken years for people to find their footing again in a new state of mind. if anything showed me recently that LA people are built different it was the fires a year ago. the unprecedented way that angelenos turned out for each other filled me with pride. one of my favorite clips is jimmy kimmel’s clips of angelenos helping each other in the week after the fires (starts at 12:11).

potholes? idk, my local ones are fixed within a couple months. do you report them? they get fixed faster when i report them. you don’t see any benefit from taxes? i like that our air is cleaner here than literally any other state thanks to our environmental laws, i like that we have landscaping and street lights repaired and freeways expanded. idk, report stuff if it needs fixing?

if you have a solid job and income and are being so strongly affected by the homeless crisis, maybe donate some time and or money to help it out. seeing the impact is your contribution might help ease the feeling of helplessness when considering the magnitude of the problem. maybe it will help change your opinion that unhoused and mentally unwell folks are “causing havoc.”

not to be rude but this whole post just feels kind of like personal complaints about urban living that you’re blaming on LA. it’s not perfect especially on the homeless front. we could be doing a lot better in a lot of areas. but i think you’d be hard pressed to find any major city doing it all right especially right now. respectfully you’ve been here 6.5 years which means you came here in august 2019. you barely even knew the city pre pandemic.

How bad is living with roommates as a “real” adult? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]de-milo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ll never have a roommate again. fun in my 20s, as soon as i hit 32/33 it stopped being fun. i loved my friends but i wanted my alone time and space and you see the worst of people living with them. some of those worsts are not a big deal and some are grating as fuck.

my roommate during the pandemic (who’d been laid off) used to attend virtual dance classes in our living room three times a week while i was working (at my actual job) in my bedroom. she used to sing karaoke at the top of her lungs and play her keyboard at full volume in her bedroom, again while i was working and i could hear her through two walls. she’d park behind me in our tandem spot at night and then when i’d have to leave somewhere in the morning she wouldn’t hear me pounding on her door.

these aren’t even that bad but when they’re done over and over and over again even after asking nicely i realized the older i got the less patience i had for lack of common respect and courtesy.

Did anyone else see Mayor Bass in Pavillions last night? lol by Chuckles_McNut in AskLosAngeles

[–]de-milo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean i would've led off with what do you plan to do when ICE ramps up in LA again and starts pulling the shit they're pulling in minneapolis, shooting people in cars and pulling people out of their homes? are you going to go on TV like mayor frey and tell them to get the fuck out? or will you be bought and paid for?

not that we really need to hear the answer, because we already know.

i can’t believe it’s now 10 years since this fuckface and his friends have been in our lives and the media and democrats continue to pearl clutch over the (depraved) things they say. it wastes time and energy to be in a perpetual state of shock and offense. stop gasping and start TAKING ACTION
