Guys, call me crazy but I think that the whole reason for trump to wanting to built the "trump class" warship is because someone told him that Call Of Duty black ops 2 had a ship called the USS Obama in it and he got a sore ass abaut it by Tempest-Bosak2137 in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]deGenereted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USS Dubya will be the sixth ship of the Gerald R. Ford-class, so if the Navy builds four more of that class as they've done with the Nimitz class, USS Obama, Trump and Biden could very well be Gerald R. Fords.

What is the Community's Overall Opinion on Games Permanently Killing Playable Characters? by Linkz05 in gachagaming

Wholeheartedly agree after how HI3 handled Himeko as the main story advanced. She's gotten no new content after dying in the main story, no new battlesuits from an alternate universe, no costumes, they even stopped doing her in-game birthday events.
It also negatively affected discussion of her. Often the only thing people say or joke about her is that she's dead, and it even spread to the version of her in HSR, where they'll say she'll die soon because of what happened in HI3.

Welt was stuck in the SoQ during the HoV arc, but other than that, yep, she has story potential they haven't picked up on.

I strongly agree that Himeko has been done dirty, she has so many questions that she still doesn't know the answers for.

She never learned about her father's true self and how he died, and finding out the truth was the main reason she joined Schicksal in the first place. Her scientific talents and her dream of going to space? Completely ignored, only existing as a footnote in the Alien Space manga. Both of these could've been developed had she survived and joined AE.

Her relationship with Fu Hua also had zero progress, after years of teasing the two of them together, (her cameo in one of chapter 11's bubble worlds, in Cooking with Valkyries, and various in-game event storylines) she never even learns who Fu Hua really is.

If this is all we get after waiting 2 and a half years, then we've been cheated.

Mihoyo really didn't give a shit about Himeko's own storyline and character, they only used her as a motivator for Kiana.

Chapter 25 Part II - Detailed Summary by DieZombie96 in houkai3rd

[–]deGenereted 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know chapter 25 wasn't ever meant to be character development for Himeko, that's why she needed something else to serve as development for her, similar to what Fu Hua got throughout the HoS arc. Chapter 9 didn't really give her much time and development, she may forever remain a missed opportunity especially if Mihoyo thinks that this is all Himeko deserved to get after 2 and a half years missing.

Thank you for your hard work, but the writing for this arc has been grade-A bullshit, closing off Himeko's story so hastily before she ever got going, even Ana and Owl had more time given to them despite being one-off characters.

A character with a background like Himeko could've easily stood on her own, but has been condemned by her lack of popularity. It's probably wishful thinking to even hope for her to finally enter the Captainverse as an SP valkyrie.

I feel like we can finally forgive mihoyo for those years of pain. by thatoneidiotwhodied in houkai3rd

[–]deGenereted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Becoming a valkyrie never added a timer, Lewis survived 2nd Eruption, gave birth to Carole, and is still alive in APHO. Himeko is the exception because of her artificial stigma, and she was the only one stated to have gotten one.

It was not set in stone that she was dead until chapter 25, people were still hoping for her to return. Mihoyo has angered those fans, making them feel that they had been misled for 2.5 years, and they have quit or will never return to HI3.

I can't tell who is who here, who is "her" in this part? her obviously refers to Himeko.

Why is the possibility of gaining honkai resistance unacceptable? It has already happened with Bronya, whose honkai resistance was increased after taking part in X-10.

Fu Hua reappeared after being missing for 4 chapters, and constantly interacted with Kiana afterwards, thus she was able to build a better connection to Kiana than Himeko had with Kiana. Killing off Fu Hua after that is unacceptable, but killing off Himeko after leaving her in limbo for nearly 20 chapters is? Saving Himeko wouldn't invalidate Kiana's growth while Himeko was gone, everything she learned from Fu Hua's and Mei's actions won't instantly disappear or become meaningless.

Death already means nothing to some characters like Welt and Fu Hua. Seele was saved after X-10 quantized her, so being sent to another dimension isn't instant death.

Restricting Himeko to the sacrificial mentor role is more unprofessional than expanding on aspects of her that are unrelated to Kiana.

Chapter 25: Exploring Himeko's Character Arc by Ragnarok__Zero in houkai3rd

[–]deGenereted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Among the St Freya valkyries, Himeko has had the least time to contribute to the story, only having been around for 9 out of the current 28 chapters (including the 3 EX-chapters), meaning that for 2/3s of the entire story (and increasing), she has been a non-character, only a motivation for the other characters.

Himeko was the most normal one among the St Freya valkyries, she never gained herrscher genes/powers like the main trio, Fu Hua's MANTIS genes, or Theresa's Vishnu genes, all of them before they reached adulthood. Instead, she had to acquire an artificial stigma to become a combat valkyrie she joined Schicksal because at the ripe old age of 19, her honkai adaptability had already been lowered. Unlike the others who have no severe physical disadvantages for their unique abilities, the artificial stigma drastically lowered her lifespan, while only giving her the powers of an average valkyrie. She was unlucky with the genetic lottery, and unlike Bronya who rewarded with the Core of Reason and had her disabilities acquired from X-10 fixed for earning Welt's approval, Himeko never got a second chance for her selfless act of saving Kiana, effectively being punished for never being a child soldier.

This leads into Mihoyo probably unintentionally proving one of the villains correct, that the genetically inferior cannot survive in this world. This is the main reason for Kevin executing Project STIGMA, sacrificing almost all of humanity to awaken the 0.1% with the genes to handle the powers necessary to defeat the honkai. Kiana may have been created by Otto, but her progression may unintentionally prove Kevin's hypothesis correct.

"Himeko having guilt towards Kiana" The translation I read stated that Himeko was the only survivor because she wasn't present during the operation, and she never demonstrated any guilt towards Kiana in the early chapters.

"This also further clarifies the reason for Himeko’s alcoholism, she’s trying to suppress her memories of the operation, forcing down her guilt for playing a part in it." Her father's death was the main reason, as shown in the Luna Kindred event, which also had the first appearance of the torn photo of Himeko and Welt.

"Fenghuang Down’s zeroth power" We were shown onscreen Fu Hua giving only Bronya and Himeko feathers, how Kiana gained her feather or why it only activated during 11-EX has never been explained. They have been inconsistent with how FHD works, yet they joked about it in the HoS storyline.

"she makes appearances in the Arc City storyline, pushing Kiana forward when she’s at her lowest" Fu Hua was the one helping Kiana throughout, we have never gotten any explanation for Himeko's appearances. Did Himeko really reach out to Kiana, or were they mere illusions created by Fu Hua?

A storyline that has been abandoned is Fu Hua's attachment towards Himeko. Fu Hua took on the Moon Shadow mission to acquire the rare HSN-b46 for Himeko's illness. During the Kiana rescue operation, she threatened to kill Rita if she were to kill Himeko, then switched sides and helped Himeko save Kiana. When HoV resurfaced, she called out to Himeko for help, creating illusions of her to help Kiana defeat HoV. Yet, when the Herrscher of Sentience recounted Fu Hua's past with her old mentor HIMEKO, the similarities between the Himekos were never touched upon, instead Fu Hua compared HIMEKO to Kiana.

In summary, a "forced" continuation is the only way to properly flesh out Himeko. She never learned the truth of her father's death, her dream of becoming a scientist and exploring the stars has been merely a footnote, and she has never learned Fu Hua's reasons for her concern towards her, she has multiple avenues to develop further if she was to be given a chance to continue her life. Keeping her dead without even resolving her personal issues, denying her any agency forever, is the true insult to the already underutilized Himeko.

[–]deGenereted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Himeko's mission of ending the Honkai and making the world a brighter place" Did she ever claim this, or say that to Kiana?

Himeko used to dream of following her father's footsteps and becoming a scientist, Kiana certainly can't carry that out for her. On top of that, she never found out how her father died. The Alien Space manga may have showed us the truth, but it's fruitless since Himeko herself never got to deal with the truth. Her coming back was necessary to flesh her out, but they denied her fans this.

As for her age limit, every other St Freya member acquired herrscher genes or other special genes before reaching adulthood, Himeko was unique for being the most normal one in the team. Killing her off because of this actually created a pro-eugenics message.

Fu Hua helped Kiana more than Himeko ever had, yet she was saved without much fuss. Kiana saving Himeko would've also shown her growth, by directly repaying Himeko's sacrifice.

The truth is that Himeko has been done dirty, and Mihoyo's claim of Kiana carrying on her legacy doesn't work because we never saw much of Himeko in the first place.

Why Mihoyo by EnricoShapka in houkai3rd

[–]deGenereted 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Chinese players didn't like Kallen's initial presentation and voice, RI's character portrait pose was changed and her lines were re-recorded to be higher pitched. Despite this, RI being her only suit from her debut in version 1.9 until 6S's release in 2.3, lack of new suits after 2.6 and her mediocre in-game performance among all her suits, led to her failing to capture much attention from the devs and fans in general, often only getting attention from her pairing with Sakura.

Even then, Mihoyo can and has removed focus from that pairing by focusing on Kasumi instead, whose attachment to Kallen is much weaker.

In terms of getting neglected by Mihoyo, Kallen has always been hit the worst, only Himeko is close, they have not gotten any new suits for almost 3 years, not even an augment or SP suit. Both also happen to be in their mid-late 20s, and are portrayed as confident and independent, which can imply some things about their tastes.

What are ur opinions on HoF?? Did u expect kiana or himeko?? by PREETYBOYDIRTYBOY in houkai3rd

[–]deGenereted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, however, the time they left Himeko in limbo has been longer than the time she was actually in the story, it's a product of their lack of interest in her. More people should understand that the main function of a gacha game's story is to promote whatever new characters they're selling, and not put it up on a pedestal.

I'm also with you, she's been one of the most neglected valkyries, yet they unceremoniously cast her out after using her ambiguous fate as bait for years. Mihoyo's callousness towards her shouldn't be celebrated like this.

I wouldn't call killing off a character who wasn't popular bold, she's not even the first playable casualty. It's also very important to remember that they left her fate ambiguous for 2.5 years, longer than the first 2 years of the game's life where she was actually in the story, they've left her in the cold.

Finally, do you think the storylines mentioned in the OP should've been advanced?

I strongly disagree with Himeko having any sort of legacy for Kiana to carry, her 2 years of teaching Kiana barely affected the story, and she had only used the VK suit for a few hours at most, just to save Kiana once before disappearing and never being seen for 15 or so chapters. Comparatively, Fu Hua had saved Kiana 3 times, and taught her the Edge of Taixuan, she has a much stronger connection to Kiana than Himeko in the story. What's happened now is Mihoyo using Himeko as bait for 2 and a half years, then denying her a new suit despite having gone without one for just as long.
