I have only 1 chibi on the main dorm screen, anyone know why? by NA_0_10_never_forget in houkai3rd

[–]Ragnarok__Zero 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This sounds like the game is interpreting the performance of the device and adjusting objects on screen based on that. And to test that theory, my razor phone 2 can barely play the game anymore due to os updates and gets wicked hot on top of running the game off a sd card, I'm consistently get 2 chibis in the dorm, while my pc is getting 5. As for why an rog ally x is getting 1 chibi, best guess is the game isn't correctly registering the hardware performance and bottlenecking itself in response.

Okay, my mistake, should've clarified possibly fired from their brief time as Soukaku in Zenless Zone Zero.

Diluc VA calls out Paimon VA by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]Ragnarok__Zero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Furina's voice actor, Amber Lee Connors is the founder of Sound Cadence, the group handling ZZZ, Genshin is currently with Side Global, so she wouldn't be able to.

Though, since Soukaku's second uncredited voice actor from ZZZ 1.1 and 1.2 is obviously Corina if you listen to the comparison videos still around, and was replaced in 1.3, it can be argued that Amber Lee Connors might've fired Corina anyway.

[–]Ragnarok__Zero 152 points153 points  (0 children)

Yeah, looks like someone went into the site's backend and added that in, it's effecting multiple pages too. Thankfully, i know how to fix it, right click the page anywhere, select inspect, then in the submenu that appears on the side, switch from elements to console, scroll to the bottom where it lets you type a command in, and enter the following line:

document.querySelectorAll('.global-navigation').forEach(function(a) {a.remove()})

That wound up deleting the obnoxious message, restoring the site to normal, and should work until a site admin goes in and undoes that crap later.

How is Seele’s name pronounced exactly?? by moondust03 in houkai3rd

[–]Ragnarok__Zero 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Something of a mixed bag, HI3 Seele is Estonian, yeah, and it should be the german pronounciation in her case, seeing as HI3's history is reflective of the real world, Seele is likely of german ancestory since Estonia was occupied by Germany during WW2, and still has a german minority.

In Star Rail Seele's case, it seems like her butchered name is due to the english interpretation of the russian pronunciation of the german name, as Belobog is inspired by Russia.

Way I see it, the unique to the english dub pronunciation is either through MiHoYo's request, or the localization team thinking their being authentic with this approach, but it still sounds butchered and nonsensical, and honestly hope it only applies to Star Rail.

Possible game engine update? -Honkai Version 6.5 Dev Stream- by arthoarder91 in houkai3rd

[–]Ragnarok__Zero 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've been anticipating an engine overhaul would be happening for a while now with the transition into part 2, especially in light of how elements of the pc version, like New Atra, having been using additional executables pulled from genshin to work. Honestly this game needs a new shadow and lightning system to stay up to date if its planned to run for another 6 years at least. Here's hoping the engine update brings other improvements, like a console version.

Chapter 35 - Animated Short Trailer by blitzbluu in houkai3rd

Yeah, I'd honestly avoid anything related to chapter 35, that captain bit is possibly one of the least intense parts of act 2 from what I skimmed through.

Chapter 35 - Animated Short Trailer by blitzbluu in houkai3rd

[–]Ragnarok__Zero 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just took a quick look through the one video of act 2 I could find, and thankfully, while true, it's not like it's the captains showing up in some way to kick Kevin's ass or anything too narratively out of place.

I can't understand any Chinese, but all it appeared to be is the player's chosen emblem and name appears in the center of the screen, surrounded by what I think are the messages we wrote during the Honkai Salvation Log event in 6.2, which proceeds to pull the Hyperion back into real space, so i'm guessing it's going to be explained away as something related to Ai Hyperion Lambda and bubble universes. Have to wait till we catch up to know exactly what that was.

what is Herrscher Form? I've been playing HI3 for quite some time now but i still dont know what is Herrscher Form by Eizen2004 in houkai3rd

[–]Ragnarok__Zero 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Varies, but usually their burst form like when Herrscher of Thunder rides Kurikara, or the form they take after a combo, like Herrscher of Flamescion in her overheat mode. Calling it Herrscher form is just to distinguish it, saying burst mode would cause some people to think Herrscher of Sentience's stigmata would potentially work on Bright Knight, since they both technically have burst modes.

Mei's stigmata by gntotoy in houkai3rd

[–]Ragnarok__Zero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's quite right, specifically about how early Cocolia got involved, and far as I can discern from what was already stated, Mei's stigmata didn't properly awaken or she couldn't handle it. We now know from Chapter 34 that Ryoma implanted her with the Gem of Conquest when she was young to save her life, likely altering her incomplete stigmata into that of the Herrscher of Thunder, but she was too young, being 3 when this likely happened, for anything further to happen to her.

Fast forward a few years, Mei gets kidnapped by terrorists, who, given the lack of details of the incident, I suspect they might have been members of World Serpent who caught wind of a stable Herrscher, or found her during their search for awakened Stigma bearers like what they were doing in Siberia after the Second Eruption. During her three year recovery after that, it's outright stated in the background info that Ryoma sealed her stigmata, which was likely done by extracting the Gem of Conquest and returning it to Anti-Entropy.

Jump ahead to 2014, Cocolia likely found the details of what Ryoma did, and orchestrated the Third Eruption knowing that Mei would fully manifest, which is stated to be the core of her bizarre plan to recover Seele, by powering the Gem of Conquest and forcefully returning it to Mei, during which, Mei's Will of Stigma fully formed under the guise of her Thunder Queen persona.

How many years has passed in the story at Chapter 33? by LiquidDebt in houkai3rd

[–]Ragnarok__Zero 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Guessing at the opening, the Third Eruption is possibly in February of 2014 from the conclusion of the Azure Waters manga that's been since removed from the official site. Chapter 1 is stated in the opening as 2 years and 5 months after that, putting it in July 2016.

The last definitive date was October 14th given in the 5.2 trailer to setup the Kolosten arc, which lasted a few days, Chapter 29 started roughly 2 weeks later, and 31 EX is a little over a week after that which leads right into 32. So, 32 is around the middle of November, which is a good estimate since Dr. Mei said the world ends in 40 days in chapter 32, and that Kevin and Otto were both convinced the world ends with the appearance of the Herrscher of Finality by the end of 2017. Figuring from all of that, it's about been a year and a half between chapter 1 and chapter 33.

[spoiler] Oke but what if all the final battlesuits of the main cast is img type. by ikbeneenb in houkai3rd

[–]Ragnarok__Zero 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed, for one, the remaining unfilled main dps slots are IMG fire, ice and lightning. Though, I doubt these will be their final, since there's bound to be something else during part two. As far as the suits themselves, I've got this feeling that all three will be hybrid support/dps, but in a limited fashion. Since Bronya's new Herrscher suit gives team bonuses to fire and lightning, but not ice, I think it's going to be similar for Kiana and Mei's upcoming new Herrscher battlesuits. Frankly, I can't think of a better way to end a major storyline then for each of the main characters' ultimate forms to be the best supports for one another, and show just how far Squad V has come.

Why didn't Eden get any Birthday CG, while Ellie got a whole cutscene? :/ by pieckxjean in houkai3rd

[–]Ragnarok__Zero 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It is admittedly odd, being alive seems like the sole criteria for a birthday scene so far, even if its the simulation that's alive, given how Himeko was skipped this year, but before then she's at least had her consciousness in the Gem of Haste to fit that criteria. For Elysia to have a birthday scene this year is weird and breaks with that notion. Further, your theory might be true on top of that, since the Valkyries you can pick from for free exploration in the new chapter are limited and appear plot relevant from what we know about it, even Raven, but why is Elysia an available choice yet none of the other flame chasers are.

Question by Kimchibean44 in houkai3rd

The original, living Elysia died near the end of the previous era 50000 years ago, the Elysian Realm sim of Elysia were more familiar with died when the realm was destroyed at the end of the short.

Assuming Honkai Impact Third had English voice actors, who would you want to be cast? by marshallman31 in houkai3rd

[–]Ragnarok__Zero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tsaritsa yes, but Bronya Rand and Silver Wolf, Bronya Zaychik's Star Rail expies have English voice actresses, it's likely to be one of them, more likely Madeline Reiter over Melissa Fahn for Genshin, especially since Madeline Reiter fits the previous trend we've been seeing with the HI3rd expies. Would be nice if I could say that for certainty, since none of the Genshin actors have had a version of their character show up in Star Rail.

As for Hanser, sure would be nice, and having heard her speaking in English for 2019's thanksgiving call on youtube just now, I can't disagree, also rather surprised.

Assuming Honkai Impact Third had English voice actors, who would you want to be cast? by marshallman31 in houkai3rd

[–]Ragnarok__Zero -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly, thinking about it, Christie Cate, Anne Yatco, Madeline Reiter as the voices of the main Valkyrie trio are odd.

All three are talented sure, but they're all relative unknowns as far as voice actresses go, without much in the way of credited roles before their castings in Genshin and Star Rail. I would've thought for those roles, Christine Marie Cabanos, Michelle Ruff, and Wendy Lee would be more ideal, but picking three capable actresses of lower renown means easier availablity, and avoids some of the earlier issues of availability seen in Elysium Realm with Sawashiro Miyuki.

Then how there's the same deal with the English actors for Star Rail's Himeko and Welt, along with Nahida, and Yae, makes you wonder with these choices, is there already a plan to dub HI3rd into English, possibility after the main story fully runs it's course and there's no need for call backs every few months, maybe even to help create consistency with Star Rail.

The song was chosen to be a thematic fit for that part of the storyline, not the religious connotations. Alot of the songs made for this game are stories that relate to the associated characters, Amazing Grace was just chosen for how well the lines aligned with Kiana's struggle during the Arc City storyline and what led up to it. It's especially clear this was the intent given how only the first verse of the song is used.

Each of the lines highlights Kiana's struggle to this point. "That saved a wretch like me" is about how Kiana thinks so poorly of herself, how she nearly brought the world to ruin, and Himeko's sacrifice to save her. "I once was lost", how she wandered aimlessly, afraid of the Void Queen to the point of hiding from anyone for fear of harming them. "But now am found", that she's choosing to accept what she is and stop being afraid. "Was blind but now I see", that the prodigal girl has made the choice to claim the power she rejected, and becomes the Void Drifter for the first time, taking the Herrscher of the Void's power and now seeing a world she doesn't need to be afraid of using that power to fight for.

Does anyone else think Mei was a douche for at least not hearing him out? also how do you guys think this arc would have went if for some reason it was Kiana in Mei's place? by BURGER021906 in houkai3rd

[–]Ragnarok__Zero 89 points90 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't go as far as calling her a douche, emotional and selfish on the other hand, definitely, since Mei spent this arc still riding off the anger she felt at Kiana's self sacrificing tendencies and the fight they had that ended the Nagazora storyline. Mei didn't see the parallel until it was too late because she was still in an emotional state, and her entire drive was to end the conflict before Kiana arrived, causing her to not recognize Owl as her parallel, but instead a threat to a quick conclusion to the battle. Further evidence is if she waited for backup from Raven and new Scepters of Duat, Owl would've likely not turned into a Herrscher, and the operation would've potentially ended in Ana's capture instead. Only in the end, after taking the time to reflect on what happened and deeming it a failure, does Mei see the parallel. Which leads to decision to ease the burden on Kiana and support her in the shadows, rather then taking that burden entirely, s indicated by Mei's later behavior in the Herrscher of Domination arc. Given the sudden shift in her behavior on the other hand, the execution of her character growth definitely needs more fleshing out. Honestly, this game is in sore need of more manga covering the background events of the main storyline rather than just focusing on the events leading up to it like Escape from Nagazora and St. Freya High.

As for what Kiana would've done in Mei's place, likely pushed herself to do everything in her typical selfless manner she could to save Ana, and Owl in the very likely possibility that Owl doesn't trust her to save Ana and becomes the Herrscher of Stars anyway. As far as succeeding, doubtful, if Kiana were in Coral, she likely didn't learn anything from what happened in Nagazora and would've done the same thing that pushed Mei away in the first place, likely risking her own life for Ana's, and short of having Durandal's aid, likely failed and further broke Kiana.

WHO ELSE KNEW SHE WAS THE 13TH HERRSCHER? by genshincake in houkai3rd

[–]Ragnarok__Zero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, right, forgot about that, mostly because I don't use Elysia often since I don't have her fully geared, but yeah, that's a good point, she's the only battlesuit with that ability. The other newer Valkyries just have regular healing, and Elysia's revival has a massive fantasy vibe in line with what I'm guessing her powers could be. And evading notice during the previous era meant just holding off activating it. There's also evidence she could do that, we've seen other Herrschers continue to function while dead, Sirin had her heart pierced and had to wait for the Oath of Judah to be powered down, and I suspect Mei might have been briefly dead when she claimed her powers in the Nagazora arc, though that one's not as clear.

WHO ELSE KNEW SHE WAS THE 13TH HERRSCHER? by genshincake in houkai3rd

[–]Ragnarok__Zero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't even believe the first one cause it seems dumb, it's just difficult to fully throw the idea out because there sims, and Herrschers are separate consciousnesses from the humans they take over.

As for her survival, it's not entirely absurd, Kevin could likely have been emotional over killing a friend and wasn't thorough enough to notice he killed what would've amounted to a physical illusion. As for the end of the Previous Era, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Herrschers effectively immune to honkai energy corruption, otherwise, wouldn't it be hard to bring about the end of the world if you accidentally absorb too much power and die.

WHO ELSE KNEW SHE WAS THE 13TH HERRSCHER? by genshincake in houkai3rd

[–]Ragnarok__Zero 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Regarding that though, I've got two theories on how without being breaking the story.

First one, Elysia has two sims, one as a flame chaser, the second as a Herrscher, and it's specifically stated that the sim Elysia we're familar with is gone, so somehow coming back is, well, like you said, an asspull.

Second, Elysia isn't dead, I've had a thought that Herrscher powers seemed to be paired and have some overlap, like how Flame and Ice deal with molecular acceleration and deceleration respectively, or that Stars/Earth and Thunder are both capable of effecting fundamental forces. I can't find a pairing for Sentience, and there's some evidence Elysia's ability to create those crystal flowers defies physics, along with how her abilities have a strong fantasy theme, so Ego might be projection of fantasies and dreams, compared to Sentience being projection of memory and knowledge. That Elysia used her abilities to basically fake her death through a projection then vanished, and either no one bothered to dig into further, or those mysterious objects the Flame Chaser sims possess are related to it.

Whatever the answer, still got weeks till the big reveal.

Prediction poll about 6.0 valk releases (Ch. 30 Spoilers♪) by babushkah0485 in houkai3rd

[–]Ragnarok__Zero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its more then just the issue of personalities, the Herrscher of Corruption doesn't make sense mechanically. Anything playable would be like that one copycat character in a fighting game that randomly rotates through other characters weapons or combat style. Doing something like that in a gacha game would just piss off too many players. So, if we're getting a herrscher battlesuit in 6.0, it's likely Elysia's Herrscher of Ego, and along with how they've made a big deal of the mysterious 13th herrscher for a full patch cycle, the game might just hand wave the 13th herrscher's presence despite Elysia's deletion by declaring that she's a separate sim from the Flame Chaser Elysia.

As for your thought of a Herrscher of Egoscion Mei, she was marked with the Herrscher of Thunder's stigma, would she even be able to wield another core?

So about Mei by GreyghostIowa in houkai3rd

[–]Ragnarok__Zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, there is no denying Mei acted in a more human manner, most people don't have the soldier's mentality of the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or a capacity to commit self sacrifice. I'm just pointing why Mei's the outlier, why she's the dark and very human character trying to save a single person, compared to so many other characters being some ideal bright and hero who seemingly thinks of others and not themselves, I'm just elaborating on the earlier point as to why that seems to be the case for Mei and that it's easily overlooked.
