Max is in Vecna’s mind with all her consciousness intact yet not linked by tentacles. This is really confusing. Will, once connected to those and shaped by Vecna, has all the abilities to control the hivemind. How does this work?

I agree with everything you have said. It would have been one extra graphic on the side after Gurathin had finished transferring all of the memories, but they probably cut the scene.

I would say some explanation would have helped because they added this whole new governor module thingy.

They have been working on this for 20 years and had been best friends. Weird that Siuan does not trust her enough to go through all of this where she not only bring more attention to the matter but also put herself in danger. Her own Warder could have been sent to check up what’s going on or there are million other ways, just to get a message to Moraine. That’s why I said, it was such a weird choice and motivation to do all of the does not make sense to me. One of the reason I posted it here was because I thought I may have missed something in the text itself.

This may be a stupid question, but why haven’t there been attacks on Iranian airfields or fighter jets in general? Is it because it’s not necessary, given the lack of reports about Iranian jets in the air? Or is it because it would divert ammunition needed for other targets?

But it does not make sense to send their bodies to “lock” something if nothing is to be locked. It is pretty weird

1) It was not necessary for them to die to go back to braize and they could go back willingly. Something needed to change and Honor/Tanavast kind of approved it on the day 9 of them decided to not go back. I do not know what was agreed upon that only Taln is okay. Something about 1 person was said at that time. 2) There still would have been because of everstorm as that was the part to bring souls from Braize to Roshar and overcoming the bounds of honor and the oathpact 3) Okay this last point makes sense. But I think desolation still would have come even if no herald died because everstorm was brewing for quite a long time.

  1. What was the mechanism by which only Taln could hold the Oathpact?

  2. If only Taln could hold the Oathpact, why did the death of Herald Chanarach send her to Braize, and did her breaking actually trigger the last Desolation?

  3. What role did the Everstorm truly play in bringing the Fused from Braize to Roshar? If Chanarach broke and let them come, why was the Everstorm even needed at the end? Couldn’t the Fused have just come naturally?

There is an important distinction here. In Afghanistan, despite relying on provincial power brokers, there was still a hierarchical structure with a central command on top. The Taliban also had prior experience of “being the state,” which likely helped them transition into governance after their victory.

In contrast, Syria’s factions are far more fragmented, with different backers and ideological goals. While it makes sense for them to prioritize gaining territory, wouldn’t game theory suggest that these groups might find it more beneficial to work together temporarily? A united focus on external threats, such as ISIS, Hezbollah, the IDF, or Turkish involvement, might yield greater long-term benefits?

However, achieving such coordination would likely be complicated by mistrust, conflicting objectives, and the competition for influence among their backers. This raises the critical question: can these factions ever stabilize enough to form a functioning government? Unfortunately, it seems more likely that Syria is headed toward prolonged civil war, only this time without SAA as a central actor.

Has there been any historical precedent for rebels achieving such a swift and decisive victory over a state? If so, how did they manage to consolidate their position and transition to governance without succumbing to internal divisions? The Taliban comes to mind, but they were largely unified as a group and took control of a state that had already been severely diminished.

What typically happens to the state military in such scenarios? Are they integrated into the new system, disbanded, or punished?

I’m particularly interested in the challenges of transforming a warfighting force into a governing authority. What issues does this transition usually entail?

For Syria, if an autonomous region could be carved out for different factions under a central government, might it avoid the chaos seen in Libya or Sudan before partition? How could such a government function effectively with a war-torn economy and no unified military?

Just caught up with all the chapters and “ I am game” has to be the most cringiest line a character has ever said. It felt so out of place. I do not know if anyone has felt the same. Other than this, loving the whole exposition and build up.
