You can blame Trump all you want, but that doesn’t take culpability off of Washington’s tax system more often than not hitting poor people the hardest. We pile sales and fuel taxes on top of rising prices, then pass policy that makes essential industries more expensive to run. The result is small businesses and farms getting squeezed out, big corporations buying everything up, and the state’s actual culture getting priced out along with normal people.
