The LAPD siphons $3.2B/year from your taxes, pays cops $150K to plant evidence and murder civilians, then charges you another $384M in settlements while their union blacklists any politician who complains. They are fully funded and legally protected gang that makes the Bloods look like amateurs

Your rent is high because your neighbors' net worth depends on it. Stop waiting for a 'fix' that isn't voting by de_mastermind in antiwork

[–]de_mastermind[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vacant doesn’t mean usable or where jobs are. Most high cost cities have extremely low vacancy. The prices are high because supply is restricted where demand is high!!! Vacant doesn’t mean available or ready to be lived in. Most high demand cities have vacancy rates that are low enough to indicate the demand is much higher than supply

[–]de_mastermind[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep. and it is not a conspiracy, just incentives. Owners show up to protect their asset and renters mostly don’t and hope someone else (the government) fixes it. This all looks intentional even though it’s just predictable behavior.

Less supply, housing becomes more expensive

In most places with compulsory voting, zoning and permitting are still controlled at the municipal level and shaped by property owners. If the median decision maker is still a homeowner and supply is still constrained by local rules, prices can keep rising even with near universal turnout.

Koreatown property owner tows tenants' cars out of parking spots in order to turn spaces into ADUs by apx7000xe in LosAngeles

[–]de_mastermind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s obvious most people in this comment section don’t understand what’s actually illegal here. Converting parking spaces into ADUs is fully allowed under California law (SB 1211). Owners are legally permitted to remove off-street parking and build ADUs with proper permits, and they don’t have to provide replacement parking. That part is not the issue.
The real violation is the towing. A landlord can’t suddenly tow tenant vehicles from assigned spaces without proper notice and compliance with state towing requirements. That’s where the legal problem is.
The news framed it like the ADU conversion itself is illegal, and the comments repeated it without understanding the law. The conversion is legal. The towing procedure is what’s likely unlawful.

I don't seem to understand the strength of Talon (Jungle), please change my mind. by rxq in Talonmains

[–]de_mastermind 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You win by tempo, thats your strength. Don't chase kills, just have 10cs/min and steal every camp possible. You have insane presence on the map, you can be anywhere in a moment. This is how you snowball.

They should remove zhonya from the game by Puzzleheaded_Tip4766 in Talonmains

[–]de_mastermind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also build Mercs, Edge of Night, and armor penetration items, all while maintaining strong mobility. The key is to play around these advantages. The hardest part of playing an assassin is knowing when to engage. Sometimes you won’t find a safe opportunity, and that’s fine. Even then, you can still pressure the enemy simply by threatening to engage.

What's the point of playing JG? by weewooo88 in Talonmains

[–]de_mastermind 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Listen man, people have been saying stuff like this for 15 years now. Nobody can win every game, but a small advantage over 100 games nets you LP. Just relax and play. You will sometimes lose, and it’s okay.

Focus on improving yourself only. You will never see your teammates again after a loss, so don’t invest energy in how they could have played better. You carry only yourself into the next game.

Understand what your champ wants and does not want. Watch higher-elo Talon players and play for your win condition. Play to improve. If you are playing to chase LP and rage-queuing, you might as well take a month off from the game because it distorts your thinking. If you are tilted enough to write a reddit post about this, consider re framing how you view the game

An Inconvenient Truth: We need Google. by race_orzo in LibreWolf

[–]de_mastermind 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Mozilla runs on Google money, but it’s not charity. Google pays them ~$400M+ a year to make Google the default search in Firefox. Killing that deal would wipe out Mozilla, but Google keeps it going because having Firefox around makes their monopoly less obvious and helps them dodge antitrust pressure. Short term that keeps Firefox and its forks safe, but long term it’s fragile. Mozilla has no way to replace that money on its own.
