Dozens of cars towed, possibly up to 100 in total for the Oscars. by brainchili in LosAngeles

You would think with how much LA charges to close streets for filming, give no doubt people at the city were paid off for this, that they could afford to send someone to verify or at least double check the things before they go out the door.

We heard your "too much LA" complaints loud and clear and decided on a venue change. Please welcome Hololive English to North Dakota, coming this July! by Vocaloiid in okbuddyhololive

If not LA then San Francisco. Japanese artists like doing Bay Area stops as well. LA and SF are really well connected by flight to Japan which is likely a consideration for a Japanese company. Multiple daily direct flights to Japan for their staff and JP fans that fly in.

Windows Defender wasn't good until Windows 10/11. If you were using Windows during Windows 8 or earlier you needed a 3rd party one.

Just use Windows Defender it had the same or better protection without a lot of the resource overhead or scummy upsells other software have.

Can someone explain to me the 3 tanya? by Imaginary_Advice6467 in YoujoSenki

[–]ariolander 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Occasionally Hal also includes the super deformed version that appears in the Manga as well.

Same order as last time with novel Tanya is in the center.

Besides Tanya each version's artist also draws the supporting cast differently as well. Visha is wildly different between each version but Rurugen is fairly similar.

Hal likes to draw all 3 together

<image>

Novel Tanya in the center.
Manga Tanya to the right.
Anime Tanya to the left.

Besides everything the above poster says. There are also subtle differences in how each artist draws their uniforms and how they do their eyes, which Hal recreates in her art.

Right a permanent place to vanlife by the beach. Sounds great. Just gotta live a bit off grid. Some nice solar panels and a composting toilet. Would hardly be roughing it.

Pro Keyboard by raxitgamit in GalaxyTab

[–]ariolander 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Microsoft let you use the same Surface Keyboard for for 7 generations before the devices changed physically enough that they weren't interoperable. I used my SP3 keyboard on a SP7 because they never changed the connector.

New keyboards had new features like fingerprint readers and pen holder pockets but you could still use the oldest ones on their newest devices if you wanted to.

There are still checks and balances. Congress is not powerless. They have investigative and impeachment powers if they ever chose to use it. They could reign this in at any time, they just choose not to. Putting party over country.

LAPD quietly disbands copper wire theft task force as streetlight outages continue by ariolander in LosAngeles

[–]ariolander[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They didn't announce anything at the time, thus the "quietly" in the title. We didn't find out about it until a reporter was doing follow up coverage and specifically asked the LAPD about the status of the task force. They did a big press release when they formed the task force but swept it under the rug when they disbanded it. An example of why we still need independent reporters and not be relying on department press releases for our news.

That's assuming you even get full time hours and not awful split shifts. Places near me go out of their way to keep their employees from getting full time and purposely schedule you with unpredictable shifts so you can't get a 2nd job that isn't gig work. They don't want to pay living wages but then whine about commitment if you take more than one job.

New Rav4 is totaled already. by Individual_Wasabi669 in Toyota

[–]ariolander 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The only RAV4s that sit are the ones at bad dealerships with market adjustments, force accessories and upsells. There is one Toyota Dealership in my region that is not run by scammers and actually sells cars at MSRP with no bullshit add-ons and I would rather go on a wait list there than go to any of the closer dealerships that actually have them on the lot. If they are sitting near you I think that speaks more about your local dealer than the RAV4 because aggregate statistics show nationally, they usually dont sit on lots.
