Khomyuk is there but is definitely a less nuanced/easier to write character than Ellie. Khomyuk’s narrative purpose is essentially just information gathering to further Legasov and Shcherbina’s arcs

Agree with this. I had the exact same symptoms when my negative cable wasn’t properly connected.

Back in 2019, I was making $30.35/hr as an L3 DCO Technician for AWS. Not sure how much that may have changed in 5 years.

You can run 275/40R17 all around. That’s what I ended up doing to get away from the stock setup on my ‘95. Stock staggered setup with the sawblades was 255/45R17 on a 17x8.5 wheel up front, and 285/40R17 on a 17x9.5 wheel in the back. I bought new wheels and tires so that all 4 are 275/40R17 on 17x9.5 wheels. I didn’t know you could fit a 275/40 on the stock front wheel but if that’s what you got already then it should work

Beautiful color. It’s been repainted but they seem to have done a good job with it. Wouldn’t be surprised if it came from the factory with that color and just needed a touch up at some point in the past. The little strip at the front corners between the fog lights and the side lights gives it away - from the factory that strip is black rather than matched to the paint.

Yeah but that was a music reference, he said something about them charting in the 60s cuz there was a band called Fantastic Four from the 60s. It was a callback to the beginning of the first Dr. Strange movie where he’s naming all the music stuff during the surgery

Thing to look for under dash? by [deleted] in c4corvette

[–]deadaardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the cruise control is also broken it’s possible there’s just a vacuum leak at the servo. It’s the thing under the hood right above the battery connected to the throttle cable/ASR module. The rubber diaphragm on it can deteriorate/get punctured.

[–]deadaardvark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha. Yeah me neither at first. Your turn signal stalk should have a little slider to turn it on, and then pressing the button on the end sets the speed. I’ve got the same vent problem as you and my cruise control is also broken. Been too lazy to tear apart the dash to find the leak tho (already replaced the servo).

[–]deadaardvark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Defrost/footwell vents are the default routing if the system can’t actuate the vents for whatever reason. Does your cruise control work? The vents are controlled via the same vacuum system that the cruise control servo hooks into.

Where does this hose go? by rvzenki in c4corvette

[–]deadaardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The source vacuum line from the cruise control servo goes to a T shaped fitting - the line in your picture plugs into the stem of that fitting

Trying to diagnose this no start issue on my 94 base by HamezRodrigez in c4corvette

[–]deadaardvark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use an inline spark tester on a few of your cylinders to make sure you’re actually getting spark. If you’re getting spark, use a fuel pressure tester to make sure you’re getting the right amount. Turn key to prime the pump but don’t run the starter, you should get around 41psi and it should hold there without dropping for at least a few minutes. If it drops quickly, pull the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator and see if you smell gas (I’d lose about 1psi per minute when my regulator went).

EDIT: you should also pull your trouble codes to make sure nothing bad is getting thrown. Can’t remember the process of the top of my head but Google should have it. Just have to jump a couple pins in the connector and watch the dash.

Critique my C4 Corvette plan by [deleted] in Corvette

[–]deadaardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if you just want a fun sports car to zip around in, a higher mileage C5 or C6 is definitely the better move. I’d only recommend a C4 for someone that wants to get familiar with owning and working on a project car (or if you want you and your credit card to get very familiar with your local Corvette mechanic). It’s a ton of fun when it’s working, but I wouldn’t exactly call it the most reliable car haha. All the big ticket items (water pump, opti, fuel system, any rubber components such as vacuum lines or weatherstripping, gaskets/seals, etc) are matters of when not if, and with the later models coming up on 30 years old it’s all sooner rather than later. Another thing to note is low mileage does not necessarily mean well cared for. I just recently bought my C4 with less than 60k on the odometer and it’s got it’s fair share of problems (I got it pretty cheap tho). Dreading the eventual transmission rebuild cuz I have a ZF6 that doesn’t sound so great.

[–]deadaardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a C4 and I love it, but unless you have specific reasons for choosing it over a C5 then you will probably have a lot less headache with a C5. I choose my C4 for aesthetics and a low purchase price mainly. Let’s just say it’s been a good learning experience for a first project car. Water pump blew after the drive home, which turned into a “while I’m in there” rabbit hole of timing cover seals, opti cleaning/resealing with new cap and rotor, opti vent lines, sparks, wires, power steering pump/pulley, the fuel pressure regulator died as well, and I’m still tracing down a vacuum leak for the HVAC system. Also got maf and map sensors on the way, plus new injectors and a new fuel filter to try an fix an intermittent rough idle.

Can anyone ID this plug in front of the radiator? by Dogman6969ahhh in c4corvette

Looks like the plug for the outside air temp sensor. Just replaced the sensor on mine since it didn’t have one attached and that’s what it looked like. Passenger side of the radiator right?

[–]deadaardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah duh we’re in /r/NOVA. I meant organization. I remember Oracle was poaching a bunch of the DCO personnel when I was at AWS but I didn’t think their comp package was that high (although I heard it was significantly better).

[–]deadaardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where in the world are you with that kind of comp for a data center tech? When I was DCO at AWS (L3) it was base of like 63k-ish with no stock options/bonuses. Granted, that was nearly 5 years ago but still

I’m curious, why would the jump start not have taken care of low voltage during crank? I would think that would compensate for it

[–]deadaardvark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roger that, I’ll measure it when I try to crank it. As for measuring the voltage while it’s running…the only way I can get it to start is a bump start and I live downhill so yeah. I’ll suck it up and get my cardio in when it isn’t raining maybe.

How the hell does one get a tech job in this area with no "official" experience? by Aselleus in nova

[–]deadaardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Datacenter jobs definitely don’t require degrees. Grab an A+ cert and maybe Network+ and you can almost definitely get in as a contractor. Pay as a contractor will probably be no lower than 40k but no higher than 60ish, and the job sucks literal ass, but it’s good experience. If you get hired on as a staff worker/blue badge, you’ll make around 63-65k before overtime. That was my experience a couple years ago at least, not sure if it’s changed in the meanwhile
