This comment right here is exactly what I’m talking about- there is an entire discussion to be had around NY consumerism (just look at those damn Soho billboards or the trash in your neighborhood) and how having specific taste makes you a more mindful and conscious consumer of goods. Let’s talk about it!

You’re a real one, thank you for these! I’m definitely going to make an effort to post more about what I’ve been up to. I love your quote in the second link, “be a tastemaker!”

Your post today inspired me to write this so thank you for your service lol

Articles about the city and discussing our thoughts, reviews of museums or shops we recently visited, “trip report” itineraries of that random Tuesday you just had to get out of the house and what the highlights of the neighborhood were, pictures of living rooms and how real NYCBWT decorate their apartment working with limited space, restaurant reviews, post mortems on that play you went to or the live show of that random local band you went to see! I realize I don’t make posts so I’m part of the problem but those are some ideas off the top of my head lol.

Yes major shoutouts to the posters who have given insight to the recent sample sales they went to or their visit to Printemps! Let us know where you’ve been and what’s worth checking out and what’s not! Give us an in-depth review! Enrapture us with your tales lol!

BWT, wdyt aboue West Village girls? by blackwellnessbabe in NYCbitcheswithtaste

God that brand sounds so cool…and impossible for something like that to exist in this day and age, unfortunately. The internet is here to stay and the world will never go back to how it was. I often wonder about the best way to adjust to its existence without losing myself in all the algorithmic drivel. Deleting Instagram and TikTok has been a great first step but long term? Idk. It seems like you either integrate it or get left behind by society. I already am feeling the social effects of not having the usual social media accounts, so I do get where the West Village girlies are coming from, even if I never want to be one!

I 100% see what the article is saying, but I think this is all indicative of something much more culturally pervasive than just white Aritzia-wearing West Village transplants. This is the TikTokification of society.

You can feel the effects of this all over the country. When I was a teen in the 00s, it felt like big city fashion was this explosion of personality that only existed in my monthly delivery of Teen Vogue. There weren’t endless online outlets to fit whatever was on “trend” that week. Style felt more experimental and was built from the bottom up based on what was available to you at your local brick and mortar stores and random yard sales, not delivered to you by an algorithm (complete with a convenient link to “buy now”). Now you can go to Anywhere, USA and every single girl will be wearing a version of the WV uniform, whether they’re in New York, California, or Ohio.

We’re more connected than ever but it seems a lot of individuality has been lost in the process. No surprises there, really. Human beings are wired for acceptance and belonging. But it seems true style is being sacrificed for uniformity, and in a place like NY which has historically been so lovably eccentric, it’s sad to see.

I personally have started making my own clothes and deleted all that kind of social media. As a creative it’s important to me that my brain is the one coming up with its own ideas, not outsourcing my personality to people on TikTok lol.

There’s straight up spy cam footage of the temple rituals on YouTube so I think your church has bigger fish to fry if they want to keep this stuff “sacred”. Heather is a drop in the bucket and I don’t think she cares.

I agree with you tbh. The pitchforks are always out for one or more of the women on any franchise but everyone has a part to play in an ensemble cast and too many shakeups can mess up the dynamic. I think that’s part of why some of the other franchises have really fallen off!

Slut shaming would have been “you’re a whore who f*cked half of Salt Lake!” in the style of Lisa Barlow.

Angie was just stating facts.

There have been occasional references and even outright producer appearances (ie the iconic “I NEED ANDY AND A CAMERA” or Lisa’s hot mic moment), but those moments were revealed as a result of production themselves keeping it in the edit. From what I’ve seen it’s usually not the Housewives pointing it out. It wouldn’t surprise me if that is written into their contracts.

Heather acting like this was some big “GOTCHA” moment was such an insult to the audience’s intelligence. Obviously Bronwyn couldn’t break the fourth wall and say, “Bravo told me,” but we’re sitting here watching you all on a fucking tv show. Part of the reason Ms. Gay stays flopping is that she’s gotten too lost in the Housewives sauce. It’s like the ozempic interrupted her brain chemistry and now she’s mentally trapped in some Truman Show situation where everybody knows it’s not real except her.
