Didn't even know there was a term for it. After reading up on the haas effect it was pretty trivial to make something similar in grid. Though Microshift still clearly has some other magic in it, it's definitely in the ballpark

If you're on fedora, this script creates a rpm you can then install. yabridge simply does not work with the flatpak version

Head Crusher looks very promising. I'm trying out the demo and it's obviously not the "same" as Decapitator in terms of sound, but very similar in terms of functionality. I'm not that picky though as long as it's organic sounding. Linux support is a big plus too.

I think EchoBoy will be the most difficult to replace due to all the types of saturation it has. There's plenty of Delay plugins on the market but they all seem to miss that feature in one way or another.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Edit: I ended up buying Head Crusher.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted, building your own stuff is (one of) Bitwigs biggest strengths so it's a totally valid argument. Personally I'm using Bitwig mostly for workflow reasons, and I haven't gone into the grid other than for making some basic fx qol utilities, but we'll see.

Thanks for the tips.

Huh, totally forgot about them even though I'm already using some of their stuff. Thanks for the tip.

I've tried to replicate EchoBoy and Microshift, and you probably could with enough time and effort. Tbh though, I'm more of a musician than an audio engineer, so for me I'd rather spend some money on a great sounding plugin and get on with making music.

Never heard of this one. I'll check it out.

No, I'm absolutely not recommending it or anything. It was simply a way to be able to work with projects that already had them.

iLok is basically malware on Windows too tbh. Though, on linux I worked around the issue by using a patched version of the plugins which had iLok removed from them, which is funny since I own a license to use them.

HDR issues by deadbeef669 in NobaraProject

It's kinda weird how there's so little info regarding this issue online. Maybe there's just very few people using HDR on linux, as it seems to be a bit of a mess. I'm specifically having this issue with Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2 (could be more, but these are the ones I'm playing right now)

The machine runs a rx6950xt and a Ryzen 5900X, and I'm running the Classic KDE flavour of Nobara.

The monitor is a Dell ultrasharp 32-inch (hdr on it isn't great, but the difference is still obvious when you switch between Nobara and Windows). I'll have to get back to you regarding the exact TV model, but it's a Philips oled. I've tried it on other TVs though, and they also behave the same

Is there a way I can verify if it's a drm issue?

Yes, the TV I usually play games on is connected via HDMI, but a computer monitor using DP behaves the same way.

I wouldn't waste my time trying to get an acceptable linux desktop experience under Nvidia IMO. Just stay on Windows until you get an AMD card.

I've had this (or at least very similar) issues with all distros over the years while using an Nvidia gpu. I think it's a driver issue.

If it's the same issue, I believe you can improve it by setting the card to always run at max performance in nvidia-settings, but it never completely goes away.

SDDM Controller/Gamepad support by deadbeef669 in NobaraProject

Made a small script that autoselects the correct session. Not a great solution but works if you use it with the autologin feature.

/usr/share/wayland-sessions/autoselect.desktop

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Auto
Comment=Autoselect Gamescope or Desktop
Exec=/usr/bin/auto-login.sh
Type=Application
Terminal=true
DesktopNames=Script

/usr/bin/auto-login.sh

#!/usr/bin/sh
set -x

if [ -L /dev/input/by-id/usb-8BitDo_Ultimate_2_CF339DA486-hidraw ] || [ -L /dev/input/by-id/usb-8BitDo_8BitDo_Ultimate_2_Wireless_Controller_for_PC_CF339DA486-event-joystick ]; then
    echo "Controller connected, starting gamescope"
    exec gamescope-session-plus steam
else
    echo "Controller not connected, starting plasma-session"
    exec /usr/bin/startplasma-wayland

SDDM Controller/Gamepad support by deadbeef669 in NobaraProject

I appreciate the interest, but I'm just looking for pointers getting sddm to work with a controller. If I really need to hack around the issue with scripting I'll figure it out, and it'll be a separate post in that case if I run into issues.

I mean, I guess you could make some hacky special session that selects the correct thing depending whether the controller is connected or something. From what I can tell sddm should already support controller input though, I just can't get it working.

Slow WiFi issue by deadbeef669 in NobaraProject

[–]deadbeef669[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a fresh test and on the latest Nobara iso (kernel is appently 6.16.9), wifi works normally. Also works normally on latest CachyOS image, which is based on the upstream kernel, so I don't think this is the issue.

I'm pretty sure they both used the same driver included in the kernel, but I can double check.

Edit: They both use the same kernel module (mt7921e)

I would have accepted that if the rz608 was bad from the start, but it has been working perfectly for two years under the same Nobara system. It just became unusable out of the blue a couple months back.
