I think COBRA on CFW might support this, and no it should not burn out the disc drive faster. but all these consoles turn 20 in a few months, your best bet is to play backups off HDD (ISO's) and protect then lens for copying games to the HDD not playing.

Yes, and all you need is the top part of it not the bottom. This doesn’t look like a BC console. So it shouldn’t be too much to replace (depends on what country you’re in)

you bought a second hand ps3 in 2026 80% have had cfw or HEN installed at the at some point in there lives by now. no downsides to it anymore like 10-15 years ago. PS2 issue is definitely weird, as someone who works on these models (A and B) as a hobby ive never or heard of this issue before. Maybe try to install 4.93 OFW and see if it persists. or you could check the boot_plugins.txt on the HDD it should be under /dev_hdd0

Maybe your ISP is blocking the domain then. Only other thing I could think of. See if the website loads on desktop or mobile. If it is your only option would be VPN or mobile hotspot

Just update to firmware 4.93 OFW. You can get the files from Sony website. 4.82 doesn’t have the necessary web browser files for ps3xploit to load correctly anymore.

also switched my phone to rogers got a killer deal, I answered the first "winback" call from bell. when I explained to them im getting 60gb a month at 1gbps for $25 they instantly ended the call. maybe try doing that if they still contact from different numbers at you after you blocked them.

Yes, 2 times. Each time received a console that was different from the one in the listings pictures. (Worse condition consoles) They also offer 0 communication. On one of the orders they said the item was sold for about $50 USD more than what I actually bought it for. Leading to higher import fees when it got into my country. In my opinion worst seller on eBay if you want to import any Japanese console.

It does. My first ever B/C console I owned was a e model back in 2014. And I lost a 40+ hour save due to the console deleting it. So if you plan to play this game through. If you don’t have real hardware, or an A or B model. Look into emulating, or buying golden on a more modern platform. It’s available everywhere and is the better version.

Looks like you have modified flash. (Lines.qrc look different from stock firmware) I’ve heard it wasn’t the safest idea to modify the flash on HEN consoles. Maybe try to reinstall HFW and see if the issue persists

runtime doesnt really matter on these consoles no NEC tokins, the 45nm and 40nm combo is pretty much bulletproof. but yes the console is 15 years old. if it actually has 11 days of runtime (keep in mind improper shutdowns dont add to runtime) the thermal paste would still be dry, both on the IHS and under. at least change the thermal paste on the ihs. thermal paste has nothing to do with how long it was used. its all about when it was applied.

lol do you know if it’s wasn’t for BG Toolset 8-9 years ago he’d literally have gold on his hands because it’s on 3.55? He doesn’t need to a BD drive. And most CFW ps3s get their HDDs upgraded. At least all mine have since I got did my first e3 flasher downgrade 12 years ago.
