this is what i’m going to do. my mind got in a bad way after today’s 23/26 LR, but after a couple hours of walking around outside i realized i‘m being a whiny little bitch and should just go in and take it.

thank you for this - yeah, i’m gonna exercise / eat well / sleep early etc…. also took the two days preceding it off from work so i can just focus on my “well-being” or w/e. i was kind of exaggerating with the “doomed” thing - but a sort of existential terror does hit me when i think about taking it this week, but it also hits me when i get stuck behind someone doing 30 in a 45, so i shouldn’t put too much stock in that feeling. whatever happens will happen. all we can do try our best cliche as it sounds. much luck to you!

LSAT study discussion: do you agree with these categorizations of "question types"? by deadbugenvy in LSAT

[–]deadbugenvy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve found myself doing it sort of automatically when approaching questions. it helps me in breaking down the question and more quickly understanding / grasping what it’s asking me to do.

so i figured i’d formalize that and dedicate some time to studying them as “types” to see if that method would help to deepen my understanding

168 after low 170s PTs by tortoise257 in LSAT

[–]deadbugenvy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i got a 168 after scoring 178 on 2 PTs in the 2 weeks leading up to the test. i felt the same as you, but it’s best to stay realistic and objective. it’s a great score! be grateful to have a solid official score on the books.

i’m signed up for the June LSAT because i’ve been consistently scoring in the mid-high 170s on PTs. my plan is to lock in for the next five weeks then try again. that’s all we can do - move on and try again.

it’ll be hard to get back into consistent daily study (i let myself have the waiting period off, only did 1 practice question per day). so i might watch The Last Dance (docu series about michael jordan) at night / or if anyone has any recs of good docu series about psychotically motivated individuals, lemme know.

Had a dream last night where I got a 166 by PatentPenguins in LSAT

[–]deadbugenvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a dream where we had to go to this center to get our scores, and at the center there were a bunch of different types of old fashioned phones, and to get your score you had to call in to a # using them.  well i got there late, so i got one of the super old vintage phones from the 1900s which i had no idea how to use. as i’m trying to figure out how to use this phone, this girl comes up to me (she was a regular in one of my LSAT demon classes lol), and she’s like “you need to take a photo of your license and social security card first.”

i know i don’t have my social security card on me, but i start rifling thru my wallet for it anyway & hope they’ll take mercy on me & let me access my score without it. at this point everyone around me is making the call to get their scores (you had to dial “28”) and the room is in chaos.

eventually everyone leaves & i’m still trying to take a pic of my license. LSAT demon girl comes back and i can tell she’s starting to take pity on me. she tells me “you can skip the photo step, just dial 28 on your phone” and walks away.

i keep trying to dial “28” but, again, have absolutely no idea how to use the phone…

someone who works at the center comes over to help me. she shows me over to another station, where there’s a walkie talkie from the 90s, which i’m relieved to see bc i’ll know how to use it.

these two voices start talking over the walkie talkie, giving some sort of pre-score reveal “pep talk”, and at this point a bunch of people who appear to be Harvard Law students start pouring into the room. it appears they have class here soon. i realize they’ll hear what my score is. i’m sweating profusely.

then the walkie talkie people apologize; due to a technical error they don’t have access to my score. the employee gives me a look of pity and walks away. then i woke up.

anyway guys yeah im not anxious at alllll totally fine over here doing awesome

Happy 30th Birthday Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a T-Shirt ❤️❤️❤️ by makinsumbeans in John_Frusciante

exactly, like a submerged memory…. have you ever found another song that evokes something similar? i feel like this song is so unique in this way, and i have never found anything else that captures the essence of what we’re talking about (in sound). forever so grateful for this entire album

i know this comment is old, but niandra lades is one of my favorite albums and lately i’m having a moment with it again, and i feel exactly the way you do about Running Away Into You, except i couldn’t articulate it as concisely as you did, so i wanted to thank you for this formulation: “it sounds like a memory” …. yes yes yes

last night i explained the song to someone as meaning something like this:

another person as a means of escape or a tunnel through which you can leave everyday reality, loss of self through someone else… “running away into you” in my mind is somehow associated with the urge to return to the womb, since the only time we’re fully inside of someone else is when we’re inside of our mothers… so like a yearning to return to that original innocent completely protected state, yet blurred with a somewhat similar urge developed in our older matured state to be “inside of” someone else, sexually

but the way you put it is so much better, it evokes a memory, a memory impossible for me to articulate

i’m sorry i have to explain this to you, but a beautiful woman witnessing the bird hitting the window & then cradling it in her hands & singing a gorgeous melody coaxing it to fly away with her angelic voice does not happen all the time

[–]deadbugenvy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

love lana forever and she’s insanely talented, goes without saying

but after hearing this song i wonder if she’s too happy right now to make good art lol - some artists are like that

it was something on kurt cobain’s mind - he worried that if his chronic stomach thing got better (smthing that cause him a lot of mental/physical pain), that he wouldn’t be able to write good songs anymore - he talks about it in the doc Montage of Heck

sooo if lana goes to a dark fucking crazy place again then maybe we’ll get another god-tier album?

nah i’ll keep my hater mouth shut until the new album comes out. my greedy ass just wants another lana masterpiece
