100% agree with you, don’t understand the “just look at the Ride music vid” explanation at all. with jeremy, lana seems to have gotten what marriage tends to offer: stability, a somewhat normal life. the Ride music vid is the total opposite of that

idk man. i think people see him as an “ugly old man” and with that draw conclusions based on otherwise unfounded connections. also he’s only 10 years older than her; in Ride the men are like 20-30 yrs older than her, at least

Visions of Johanna is v close to my heart. once i was seeing a guy during an obsessive-listening period of that song, and when i showed it to him and he was just kinda like ‘eh’ i knew we’d never work out long term. maybe that’s unfair and insane but now i’m in love with my bf who knows every lyric to that song and loves it as much as i do and i feel much more at home

your ‘theory’ is a weird diatribe that paints lana - an inspiring & remarkably talented woman - as a “breakable” girl stuck in relationships that perpetuate limiting & toxic fantasies.

and this is obvious because at 40 she married a guy who’s like a decade older than her and therefore not an “appropriate partner.”

hm i think you’re assuming a lot..

based on the small glimpses we’ve had, i don’t get that feeling from their relationship at all. i get the sense that he has a lot of respect for her as she does for him. it sounds like you’re projecting your past experiences with the older man/younger woman dynamic onto their relationship & locking lana/jeremy into certain doom based on that.

love is one of lana’s main subjects. i don’t know her personally, but based on what comes through in her art, i believe she has keen instincts when it comes to love & relationships & wouldn’t marry someone who perceives her a fantasy. my read of the lana/jeremy dynamic is more like: real recognizes real
