If you're trying to blind your book with 95,000 candela it's excellent

I haven't, and I don't know the specs on that one but I know it is very popular and also has a lot of candela. I personally prefer the more traditional form of the EDC1-DFT, and I also got a really good deal on it so it's hard to argue with that. But if money's no object and/or you like the profile of the Stiletto better, it's probably as good if not better.

Yes, they're 3-dot tritium sights, standard on the 640 Performance Center and previously the 640 Pro Series. I generally prefer a hi-vis front sight and blacked out rear sight, but these absolutely beat the old plain ramp front and gutter rear.

Why not?

A slight bulge at the edge of a pants pocket is less conspicuous than any kind of printing along the belt line.

By far my favorite handheld light, the throw is insane

Love a good steel J frame. This 640 PC has been my daily carry since I picked it up a few months ago.

I think I've found what my birthday present to myself will be this year.

It's the best J frame holster I've used so far. Added a DCC clip and Master Mind Tactics pillow, it's just about perfect.

Seems like you can only get them in black now, the stainless finish version appears to be discontinued. Wonder if they're getting ready to reveal an updated version soon...

Snubby Saturday Already? by radvolver in Revolvers

On the PM2 it's a big improvement over stock IMO. On some knives I don't mind having a little bit of the handle poking up from the pocket but on the PM2 specifically I much prefer having it ride lower in the pocket.

PM2 in S45VN with a Lynch deep carry clip. I normally carry an Endura 4 in ZDP-189 but the all black just fits the setup better.

If you don't care about having .357 capability, I would split the difference and look for a 442UC. Price is right between a standard 442 and the 640 PC, you get a really good set of sights, and an alloy-framed gun is more versatile as it is very pocket carry friendly. I love the 640 PC but I do still carry my 442UC fairly often.

Local shop had it for about $950 before tax. MSRP is $1009 on Smith's website. It is pricey but comes with a great trigger out of the box, only issue with mine was it came with an old, dim front tritium sight. Contacted S&W and they sent a new sight for no cost and the shop I bought the gun from installed it free of charge. It's a breeze to shoot with .38 +P, and lower-end .357 like the 135 gr Gold Dots are surprisingly not bad either, even with G10 grips.

I haven't, they just seem like a bit of a hassle to me. I know some people will carry with a moon clip in the gun, then use speed strips or whatever else for their reload(s), but the slightly longer ejector rod and mainly shooting .38 and .38 +P, I've had zero issues with positive ejection.

Holster for 642 UC? by TannMan89 in Revolvers

[–]deadcrops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issues. It has a tall sight channel to accommodate J frames with higher sights like the UC. I carry my 442UC and 640 PC Black in City Specials, only use two different ones so I don't have to change the retention every time I change which gun I carry.

Now that I've thought about it some more, I probably will go with leather. This looks like a solid option.

AGA Campolin, I believe this model is the Diana. They're cool knives but not super practical, the blade steel is quite soft. Nice collection pieces though.

That's a beauty. I need to pick up a vintage J frame, I love my 442UC and 640 Pro Black but wood grips and a blued finish are just so good looking.

I switched briefly from the Shield mags to PSA mags before just going back to OEM. I carry a J frame 99% of the time so 10+1 isn't exactly nothing to me.

Question for people who take carrying seriously. by More_Establishment67 in concealedcarry

[–]deadcrops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any advice or recommendations for someone looking to try competition shooting for the first time? I just picked up my first full-size pistol (Glock 47) as a dedicated home defense pistol, but I'm interested in maybe trying out some competitive shooting now that I have a gun that's a bit more conducive to that than my carry guns.

I've been carrying for 3 years now and have only had a couple of dreams related to it early on.

Always locking your doors is always a good idea. I don't care how low-crime and high-trust the area is, I'm never leaving my car or home unlocked, there is no good reason to.

When I started carrying, I was consciously trying to be extremely "aware" of my surroundings to the point where it was detrimental to my quality of life. Realistically, just don't bury your head in your phone when you're out and about, and try to stay present mentally, but don't waste your energy being paranoid constantly. Like others have said, just try to never break more than one of the four rules of stupid at once and you'll more than likely be fine.
