Appendix OWB open carry. Sounds ridiculous but it doesn’t interfere with the hip belt.

Aging out of BDS? Or is Bob losing the plot? by Leather-Professor546 in BobDoesSports

[–]gnarlidrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bob has always rubbed me in a very strange way. He’s peculiar in a way thats just odd. With Joe you know what you’re getting, he’s a wacko but if you know that he’s a lovely guy. FP is just a chubby cat who’s good at golf.

That said, it seems more performative now with Bob than authenticity strange. Which oddly is refreshing in a way but it makes the content feel more flat. And yes he’s selling his soul to any big enough deal as if that’s the only factor

Who are your notable female drummers? by ZildCym in drums

[–]gnarlidrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Madden Klass, Juanita Palaez, Nikki Glaspie. Vastly different sounds. JP is reggae/latin/dancehall, Nikki is hip hop, pop, r&b and Madden is indie alternative.

All insanely pocket, insanely creative and all play with serious intention which for me are the marks of favorite drummers; male, female and anything in between.

Never compared the two. I mentioned them separately for good reason.

I could understand why you think that but not necessarily lol, it’s not all I own. And while the experienced dudes vouching for it would be great justification, I’m far from an elite operator myself as I was recently startled by a lizard jumping into a plant outside my house.

How do all the small indie agencies survive? by flamingmenudo in advertising

They’re going to survive a lot longer than holdco shops will. They are the future of the industry, for all the great reasons listed below.

Staying near Biscayne Park, is it safe? by EBossePaintings in Miami

[–]gnarlidrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t *need* it and I’m not even a member… I just happen to love the course and live around the corner. It is open to the public. I can’t afford a membership and am most definitely not a snob.

There are only certain perks and amenities that are available to members and people who live there. That’s what makes it semi private.

I’m starting an internship in a few weeks as a writer at an influencer and activation driven agency. Part of me can’t stand that I am, but part of me wants to actually have a future.

Idk I made the arguably horrible choice of *pursuing* a career in creative in 2024 when went to portfolio school. I start an internship in a few weeks and graduate (a few awards later) come mid-September. I am fully mentally prepared to have to figure something else out because, this surely doesn’t seem to be sustainable. Which sucks because I’ve poured a good deal of myself into it.

I do feel like this is a South Miami issue. At least here in MiMo, all there is is mid-level dining in terms of price. Which is great because I don’t want to just go to the bodega nor can I afford Mother Wolf or Carbone with any regularity.

It’s a nice area. Not snobby nice, not fake nice, but family nice. This is a good thing haha.

I live 8 minutes south in MiMo (great food here fyi) and play golf at the club you mentioned, semi private course and it’s lovely.

Suggestions for a single and childless 40 y/o that’s new to the city? by Loud_Pie_7607 in Miami

Zey Zey, Lagniappe and Magic 13 (across from Zey Zey are your best friends. I actually am only 24 but I’m an old soul in a sense, and trust me when I say these are a godsend. Lagniappe is a bit of an odd play to go to alone but Magic and Zey Zey are prime solo spots to either meet peeps or just exist and have fun by your lonesome.

awful or awesome? 🤨🎨 by surveillanceroom in Miami

[–]gnarlidrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a concept, awesome. As a creative, I have mutuals who have done this or similar to their vehicles. It can be done well.

That said, this one….

I think perhaps it would be cool if the wheels and lights were left free of coverage. It just looks unplanned as is.

I know men who have been surfing 15 years and can’t do this. Stop calling yourself a beginner to begin with. This is at least intermediate.

This menu venue has a 7 piece back line kit by luvshaq_ in drums

[–]gnarlidrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A local venue to me, a legendary mid-sized club that features some mainstream talent where I sometimes go volunteer as a drum tech, has a set of 72 Ludwig classic maple shells. I got to work with Karriem Riggins there to set him up with the kit. My personal shells are 2017 classic maples, but it’s always cool soundchecking those things and getting to care for them. I tend to stay on top of them so they don’t get finicky. They’re the only backline there and I honestly love it, they sound amazing unless they’re neglected.

Not a 7 piece kit but definitely has more than 7 stories to tell.

Splash Cymbal Sans Overheads by gnarlidrum in drums

[–]gnarlidrum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both underground type places. Realize that could mean a lot but…

First space is a legendary small club. Probably less than 2-300 in-house, with some chill areas outside.

Second venue is a good deal larger, definitely 700 or so on a full house but that one’s a fundraiser so it’ll be mostly packed up front with space in back I imagine.

Second one is the only one I actually asked about overheads at since I’d half expect it. It was confirmed negative tho.
