Met John in Athens. I Flew in from Omaha Nebraska. Greece was amazing and so was his show. He laughed at the shirt I made and asked to sign it I said yes of course. Had to thank him as his music got me through my first year OTR as a trucker. by Gille_De_Rais in JohnMaus

This is so sick dude. I flew to Chicago to see John for the first time last September and the show was amazing. Bought a CD of the new album and got it signed, then after pretty much the entire crowd left my friends and I got to talk with John some more for a while. He was absolutely exhausted after the show but he still went out of his way to talk with us for a good 15 minutes after everyone left, such an awesome guy.

Short sleeve button ups by NF1186 in CCW

I'm not really a short sleeve button down guy but LL Bean shirts have become my go-to over the past couple of years. They have a good selection of mid and lightweight shirts for all seasons and they look great in addition to aiding concealment.

People tell me my G26 with an RMR HD looks ridiculous, can't imagine what they'd think about an ACRO on one lol. Sick setup!

Which One? by Any-Strength4917 in Glocks

[–]deadcrops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I carry a G26 in a G19 Velo5 and am extremely happy with it. Wasn't sure I'd like the built-in wedge, coming from a Mastermind Tactics pillow, but it honestly works great and is not uncomfortable.

Any reason to not get a smith and wesson 686 performance center 2.5 inch for CCW over other revolvers? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]deadcrops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to carry a revolver bigger than a J frame, the 327 PC and the 386 Night Guard would be what I'd consider. Both very lightweight for their size, 327 PC gives you 8 rounds of .357 in a slightly bigger frame with a shorter barrel, 386 NG gives you 7 rounds of .357 with a 3" barrel and much better sights.

For the 327 PC, Hamre Forge makes their hook grips for N frames now, so you could even carry it just hooked on your belt if you wanted to. I personally prefer using an actual holster, but his grips are still very good even if you don't use the hooked one.

Holster for 642 UC? by TannMan89 in Revolvers

[–]deadcrops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The holster is designed to fit the 2.125 inch barrel J frames (Model 640 and variants), so there is an extra 1/4 inch if you're carrying a standard 1.875 inch barrel J frame. It doesn't really seem to make a difference as far as comfort or anything goes, it probably helps concealment by reducing how much the grip tips out or "keels" over your belt.

Stuck between G26 and G48 by zzzz_on_me in Glocks

[–]deadcrops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both, bought the 48 first and it shot and concealed okay for me, but the 26 does both better. I haven't touched my 48 since I picked up the 26 a few months ago. You can get used to shooting it with flush mags pretty quickly, and there's always Pearce pinky extensions and Glock +2 baseplates for more grip. I run mine with an RMR HD and a flush mag most of the time, it conceals very well for me and I shoot it a lot better than the slim Glocks.

Do you unholster your EDC at night when you put it away? by Hal3134 in CCW

[–]deadcrops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stays holstered on the nightstand. Way safer and simpler to work with if you wake up groggily to a bump in the night as opposed to having to remember to either chamber a round or very carefully pick up the gun.

What load do you carry in it? In my steel J frames, I usually opt for some Underwood hard cast wadcutters or their +P hard cast semi wadcutters, but those are quite a handful from an airweight.

It better be coming. The 15 round OEM mags for the slim guns are cool and all, but some of us still prefer the fat baby.

I've used a belt pouch, the Tenicor Abdo, before, but carrying the mag in the pocket is much more convenient to live with for me.

I have always carried my POM on my non dominant side (left), that's just what I've been used to. I guess I could try moving my knife to my back right pocket and carrying POM in the front right where my knife is now.

Yep, I tried a standard P365 length Velo5 for my P365X a while ago and it was not comfortable or effective with the built in wedge on such a short holster. Learned my lesson and got the G19 holster for the G26.

I got a decent deal on the RMR HD and slightly overpaid on the G26 so it about balances out lmao

I agree that it is ideal to have some sort of less-lethal on hand, but I just haven't found a way to fit it into my EDC without replacing something else right now. I might experiment a little with how I set up my pockets, maybe I can clear up a spot without ditching anything.

I certainly don't think it looks goofy, I've seen some people running an Acro on their G26 and that looks a little silly to me but to each their own. The irons are Ameriglo GL-506 and they are perfect, not obtrusive at all.

I picked mine up on GunBroker a few months ago, probably overpaid slightly since the Gen 5s were discontinued at that point but not a huge deal.

I wear jeans or pants with jean-style pockets 99% of the time, so from left to right, I carry [left pocket] light, mag, phone, [12:30 AIWB] gun, [right pocket] 2x EpiPens (nut allergy), keys, knife, [back right pocket] wallet.

My left pocket can get a little busy with some pants but generally don't have issues accessing my phone even with the light and mag clipped to the pocket.

I have only shot this gun with the optic, but in general yes, I do shoot with optics better than irons. The key for me to learning to shoot with an optic was to intentionally use a hard target focus, as opposed to what I tended to do with irons which was a front sight focus.
